Development of GABAergic Interneurons in the Human Cerebral Cortex

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neuroscience, Volume 61, Issue 9, May 2025.
Recent research is starting to shed light on the cellular and molecular processes that regulate the development of cortical GABAergic interneurons in humans, tracing their formation in the foetal telencephalon to their initial integration into neuronal networks in the postnatal cerebral cortex. This review outlines our present knowledge of this process.

Ultratrace determination of phosphorus in ultrapurified water by a slope comparison method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The analytical method for the determination of phosphorus in ultrapurified water was developed. Ultrapurified water was evaporated to concentrate phosphorus and the final sample volume for analysis was 10 ml.

Candidate Biomarkers for Hard‐to‐Heal Wounds Revealed by Single‐Cell RNA Sequencing of Wound Fluid in Murine Wound Models

open access: yesWound Repair and Regeneration, Volume 33, Issue 3, May/June 2025.
ABSTRACT Wound healing is often hindered by hyperglycemia, chronic inflammation and ageing. Despite extensive research on the pathophysiology of hard‐to‐heal wounds, wound healing remains complex and poses challenges in treatment and management. Current wound treatments and care mostly target a single pathology, such as infection, while most hard‐to ...

An Argument for ‘Adjacency Pair’ as a Theoretical Unit of Conversation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This paper presents an argument to prove the theoretical status of a minimal unit of conversation called ‘adjacency pair.’ It was rejected as a theoretical unit of conversation by Searle (1992a, 1992b) and was reluctantly consented as a practice by ...

Laboratory study of sonic booms and their scaling laws [PDF]

open access: yes
This program undertook to seek a basic understanding of non-linear effects associated with caustics, through laboratory simulation experiments of sonic booms in a ballistic range and a coordinated theoretical study of scaling laws.

Improving utility of brain tumor confocal laser endomicroscopy: objective value assessment and diagnostic frame detection with convolutional neural networks

open access: yes, 2018
Confocal laser endomicroscopy (CLE), although capable of obtaining images at cellular resolution during surgery of brain tumors in real time, creates as many non-diagnostic as diagnostic images.

Suppressing DUSP16 overexpression induced by ELK1 promotes neural progenitor cell differentiation in mouse models of Alzheimer's disease

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 24, Issue 2, February 2025.
Elevated DUSP16 was observed in AD model mice, accompanied by deficits in hippocampal neurogenesis, synaptic transmission, and cognitive function. Silencing DUSP16 promoted the neural differentiation of NPCs, resulting in an increased generation of new neurons, improved synaptic transmission, and better cognitive performance.

A receptor-based analysis of local ecosystems in the human brain. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
BackgroundAs a complex system, the brain is a self-organizing entity that depends on local interactions among cells. Its regions (anatomically defined nuclei and areas) can be conceptualized as cellular ecosystems, but the similarity of their functional ...
