Intra‐annual transfer of hydrogen and oxygen isotopic signals from water and sugar precursors to tree rings: Processes and mechanisms

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 251, Issue 3, Page 1143-1160, August 2026.
Intra‐annual radial growth of beech and spruce in 2021 and 2022. Summary The oxygen (δ18O) and hydrogen (δ2H) isotope compositions of leaf and xylem water shape tree‐ring isotope baselines, while the fraction of sugars undergoing isotopic modification downstream of leaves (fO, fH) determines the dominant hydrologic signal.

Symbolic or Substantive Action: Intent, Effort, and Results

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, Volume 35, Issue 5, Page 7484-7498, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Many firms have made ambitious climate pledges since the Paris Agreement of 2015. These pledges may be symbolic or substantive, but the literature is fragmented in defining these two terms. We propose a conceptual framework with three frames to delineate symbolic from substantive action: Intent—underlying motivations for engaging in climate ...

A Study of High‐Emission Industries: How Policy, Strategy, and Technology Shape Corporate Social Responsibility Toward Carbon Neutrality

open access: yesCorporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management, Volume 33, Issue 4, Page 5630-5651, July 2026.
ABSTRACT The extant carbon neutrality (CN) literature largely offers macro‐ or meso‐level analyses, providing limited insights into implementation experiences that could inform granular policymaking and industry strategies. To address this gap, we examine the lived CN experiences of firms in the transportation, energy, manufacturing, and construction ...
