A simple morphodynamic model for sand banks and large-scale sand pits subject to asymetrical tides [PDF]
We extend existing knowledge on theoretical growth characteristics of tidal sand banks by including asymmetrical tides with an M0, M2 and M4-constituent, thus allowing for migration.

Triblock Polymer Engineering Enables Hydration‐Rich, High‐Performance, Fouling‐Resistant Interfaces
A molecularly engineered triblock polymer (PHZ) rapidly reorganizes into a hydration‐rich interfacial layer on diverse surfaces, strongly suppressing hydrophobic attraction and fouling. The triblock polymer provides robust energy and steric barriers to oily foulants, enabling high‐performance antifouling at ultralow dosage.

Triaxial compression tests on a crushable sand in dry and wet conditions [PDF]
A calcareous sand from the Persian Gulf is subjected to a series of dry and fully drained saturated triaxial shear tests. The samples are prepared at relative densities of 65% and either left dry or saturated. They are consolidated to confining pressures

Software-Defined Networking Using OpenFlow: Protocols, Applications and Architectural Design Choices
We explain the notion of software-defined networking (SDN), whose southbound interface may be implemented by the OpenFlow protocol. We describe the operation of OpenFlow and summarize the features of specification versions 1.0–1.4. We give an overview of

Evolution of secondary cellular circulation flow above submarine bedforms imaged by remote sensing techniques [PDF]
Normalized radar cross section (NRCS) modulation and acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP) measurements above submarine sand ribbons and sand waves are presented. The two study areas are located in the Southern Bight of the North Sea at the Birkenfels

One-dimensional compression of a crushable sand in dry and wet conditions [PDF]
This paper presents the results of a series of dry and wet one-dimenional compression tests on a calcareous sand from the Persian Gulf. Calcareous grains crush more easily compared to silica grains, a fact that is mainly attributed to their angular shape

Strategic assessment of the magnitude and impacts of sand mining in Poyang Lake, China [PDF]
Planning for the extraction of aggregates is typically dealt with at a case to case basis, without assessing environmental impacts strategically. In this study we assess the impact of sand mining in Poyang Lake, where dredging began in 2001 after sand ...
