Diverse living microbial communities showing stacked mats and finger‐like branching examples that grow with the support of reed grass (phytomicrobialites) as well as aragonitic stromatolitic tufa have been rediscovered in the alkaline and hypersaline Lake Nuoertu in the Badain Jaran Desert N. China.

We show that the functional diversity of fishes promotes multifunctionality in seagrass meadows. We found that there was consistency in the seascape context and connectivity variables that structured the rate and distribution of different components of functioning and the functional diversity of fish in seagrass meadows.

ABSTRACT Preserved allocyclic signatures in the rock record often reflect basin‐scale climatic variability and serve as key proxies for correlating ancient dryland successions. The notion of climate cyclicity, however, remains largely untested on regionally constrained, outcrop‐calibrated studies.

Desert ecosystems are inherently nutrient-limited and highly susceptible to disturbances. In such arid environments, sand barriers play a pivotal role in ecological restoration efforts. Despite their importance, the long-term effects of Salix Psammophila

Survey on optimum planting spacing with three leguminous species in rain fed system (pure and mixed) on sandy hills of Khouzestan, Iran [PDF]
In order to select the optimum interplant distance and determination the best species for biological sand dune fixation, this study was carried out on sandy hills of (Khouzestan province) located in southwest of Iran. There are about 350,000 ha of sandy

Abstract Surface and near‐surface wind speeds, critical factors for dust emission, are often overestimated in desert regions by models, leading to exaggerated predictions of sandstorm extent and dust concentration. This study implements a new turbulent orographic form drag (TOFD) parameterization scheme using 30‐m‐resolution terrain data in the WRF ...

The effect of vinasse as a carbon source on the activity of urease-producing bacteria in the microbially induced calcite precipitation (MICP) approach. [PDF]
One of the most important causes of soil desertification is wind erosion. Deserts are known for their poor physical, chemical, and biological properties. In order to solve the problem of loose sand, many solutions have been thought and used so far. Today,
