Geochemistry of Mudstones/Silty Mudstones from the Qigequan Formation and Shizigou Formation in Yuejin-II Area, Southwestern Area of the Qaidam Basin: Implications for Sedimentary Environment and Sandstone-Type Uranium Mineralization

open access: yes, 2022
The Qaidam Basin has been the focus of sandstone-type uranium prospecting since the 1950s. In recent years, relying on the uranium geological survey project supported by the China Geological Survey, and the cooperation with the Qinhai oil company ...

Study on Mechanism of Oxygen Oxidation Leaching with Low Acid for High Acid Consumption Sandstone Uranium Deposit

open access: yes, 2023
In view of the problems of high acid consumption, the blockage of ore-bearing beds caused by iron ion precipitation and a low leaching rate in the conventional acid leaching of a sandstone-type uranium deposit, the author put forward “low-acid and ...

Rethinking Collinearity in Self‐Organizing Maps: Evidence From Geophysical Data Classification

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Machine Learning and Computation, Volume 3, Issue 2, April 2026.
Abstract This study examines the impact of collinearity on unsupervised machine learning algorithms (UMLAs), specifically Self‐Organizing Maps (SOMs), for detecting lithological boundaries in geophysical data. Using a multi‐scale experimental framework that includes bivariate isotropic clusters, geologically complex Noddy simulations, and real‐world ...

Integrating Deep Learning and Distance‐Based Clustering to Optimize the Field Scale In Situ Uranium Leaching System in Heterogeneous Reservoirs

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract Utilization of the integrated simulation‐optimization models for supporting decisions of the in situ leaching (ISL) design of uranium (U) mining is often hampered by the physicochemical heterogeneity within the sandstone reservoirs. Nevertheless, the conventional way suffers from a high conceptual uncertainty due to almost ubiquitous ...

Transformation of Fe-bearing minerals from Dongsheng sandstone-type uranium deposit, Ordos Basin, north-central China: Implications for ore genesis

open access: yesAmerican Mineralogist, 2022
Abstract Iron-bearing mineral assemblages and their distribution patterns directly reflect the redox environment in sediments, which plays a decisive role in the migration and precipitation of U. The Dongsheng sandstone-type U deposit hosted in fluvial and/or deltaic sandstones of the lower member of the Middle Jurassic Zhiluo Formation ...

The Neoproterozoic Throssell Range Group, Western Australia: A Peri‐Marginal Continental Basin in Rodinia and Its Implications for the Centralian Superbasin

open access: yesBasin Research, Volume 38, Issue 1, January–February 2026.
This study of recent exploration drillcore reveals two sequences separated by a disconformity. Basal alluvial fan to shallow marine lithofacies suggest reactivation of basement faults, and a distinct upwelling signature points to a flooded margin, controlled by differential subsidence of diverse Proterozoic lithosphere.
