3D Geological Modeling and Metallogenic Prediction of Kamust Sandstone-Type Uranium Deposit in the Eastern Junggar Basin, NW China

open access: yesMinerals
Sandstone-type uranium deposits hold significant value and promise within China’s uranium resource portfolio, with the majority of these deposits found at the junctions of basins and mountains within Mesozoic and Cenozoic basins.

Provenance of Jurassic Sediments from Yuqia Sandstone-Type Uranium Deposits in the Northern Margin of Qaidam Basin, China and Its Implications for Uranium Mineralization

open access: yesMinerals, 2022
The Yuqia uranium deposit is a newly discovered sandstone-type uranium deposit in the northern margin of the Qaidam Basin. Concerning the sources of sediment in the basin, most scholars have focused on the study of Cenozoic sediment sources in the ...

Iowa Population Exposures to Metals and Metalloids in Well Water

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Previous Iowa studies suggest low levels and chronic arsenic exposures are associated with prostate cancer. The rural Iowa population heavily relies on private wells for drinking water resources and thus is vulnerable to contaminants such as heavy metals found in well water.

Study on Uranium Occurrence State of Sandstone-Type Uranium Deposits in Qianjiadian Region, Songliao Basin, China

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science, 2020
Abstract The Qianjiadian uranium deposit is located in the southwest margin of Songliao basin. In this paper, electron probe, energy spectrum, back scattering analysis, scanning electron microscopy and other experimental methods are used to study uranium occurrence form and uranium mineral type in Qiandaidian uranium deposit. The results

In-situ Micro-scale Pb Isotope Identification Characteristics of Metallogenic and Non-metallogenic Pyrites in Sandstone-type Uranium Deposits

open access: yesYankuang ceshi, 2022
BACKGROUND Sandstone-type uranium deposits contain a large number of pyrites of different shapes and stages. It is difficult to accurately discriminate the pyrite formed before, during or after the metallogenic period solely by observation of pyrite ...

Rethinking Collinearity in Self‐Organizing Maps: Evidence From Geophysical Data Classification

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Machine Learning and Computation, Volume 3, Issue 2, April 2026.
Abstract This study examines the impact of collinearity on unsupervised machine learning algorithms (UMLAs), specifically Self‐Organizing Maps (SOMs), for detecting lithological boundaries in geophysical data. Using a multi‐scale experimental framework that includes bivariate isotropic clusters, geologically complex Noddy simulations, and real‐world ...

REE/trace element characteristics of sandstone-type uranium deposits in the Ordos Basin [PDF]

open access: yesChinese Journal of Geochemistry, 2006
The major elements, trace elements and REEs were analyzed on the samples collected from the sandstone-type uranium deposits in the Ordos Basin to constrain the mechanism of uranium enrichment. The total REE amount ranges from 36.7 to 701.8 μg/g and the REE distribution patterns of the sandstone-type uranium samples are characterized by LREE enrichment ...

Eocene Tectonic Change in the South Pacific Caused Exhumation of the Transantarctic Mountains in Northern Victoria Land, Antarctica

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Geology and Geophysics, Volume 69, Issue 1, March 2026.
Apatite fission‐track and (U‐Th)/He data indicate rapid exhumation of northern Victoria Land at 40–30 Ma, correlating with opening of Adare Trough at 43–28 Ma. Exhumation was greatest close to the Ross Sea, consistent with other regions of the Transantarctic Mountains.

Uranium resource of Europe: Development status, metallogenic provinces and geodynamic setting

open access: yesEnergy Strategy Reviews
Since the 21st century, the closure of domestic uranium mines in Europe has made it one of the world's leading importers of uranium. In recent years, a series of policy adjustments have led to an improving situation for enriched uranium supply, yet the ...

Inferring Cenozoic Cover Thickness and Bedrock Sedimentary Material in 3D From Geophysical Data Using Machine Learning Algorithms: A Case Study in the Lockington Region, Victoria, Australia

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, Volume 13, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract This study presents a supervised machine learning approach to constructing a 3D geological model for the Lockington area in Victoria, Australia, by integrating borehole observations, geophysical surveys (magnetic, gravity, and radiometric), and elevation data.
