Optimization of Deposition Temperature and Gyroid Infill to Improve Flexural Performance of PLA and PLA–Flax Fiber Composite Sandwich Structures

open access: yesJournal of Manufacturing and Materials Processing
This research investigates the optimization of 3D-printed sandwich structures fabricated using fused filament fabrication (FFF) with polylactic acid (PLA) and PLA reinforced with flax fibers.

Sandwich systems

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 2013
The paper under review deals with some interesting and modern topics concerning the qualitative analysis of energy functionals that are naturally associated to various classes of stationary problems. If the energy functional \(G\) is bounded from below, one can show that there is a Palais-Smale sequence \((u_n)\) satisfying \(G(u_n) \rightarrow a\) and

Structural insights into lacto‐N‐biose I recognition by a family 32 carbohydrate‐binding module from Bifidobacterium bifidum

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bifidobacterium bifidum establishes symbiosis with infants by metabolizing lacto‐N‐biose I (LNB) from human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). The extracellular multidomain enzyme LnbB drives this process, releasing LNB via its catalytic glycoside hydrolase family 20 (GH20) lacto‐N‐biosidase domain.

Peptide‐based ligand antagonists block a Vibrio cholerae adhesin

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The structure of a peptide‐binding domain of the Vibrio cholerae adhesin FrhA was solved by X‐ray crystallography, revealing how the inhibitory peptide AGYTD binds tightly at its Ca2+‐coordinated pocket. Structure‐guided design incorporating D‐amino acids enhanced binding affinity, providing a foundation for developing anti‐adhesion therapeutics ...

Incorporating Multiple Imputation Into Tanezumab Dose–Response Modeling of WOMAC Pain CFB Across Six Randomized Placebo‐Controlled Phase 3 Trials

open access: yesCPT: Pharmacometrics & Systems Pharmacology
Multiple imputation is increasingly being used to deal with missing data in clinical trials. It is a simulation approach leading to multiple analyses of a pre‐defined number of datasets.

Sandwich-Type Composites Based on Smart Ionomeric Polymer and Electrospun Microfibers

open access: yesFrontiers in Materials, 2019
Taking advance of the fiber-reinforced polymer process, commonly used in the fabrication of polymer composites, in this work we used electrospun microfibers to reinforce self-healing ionomeric polymers producing sandwich-type composites.

Ray-optical negative refraction and pseudoscopic imaging with Dove-prism arrays [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
A sheet consisting of an array of small, aligned Dove prisms can locally (on the scale of the width of the prisms) invert one component of the ray direction.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...
