Hygrothermal Deformation of Composite Sandwich Panels [PDF]

open access: yesAdvanced Composites Letters, 2000
Coefficients of thermal and moisture expansion (CTE and CME) can be predicted for many composite laminates and sandwich panels. Core and adhesive properties, such as geometry and stiffness are important variables. Laminate theory is augmented with a modified model for anisotropic core properties to predict the CTE and CME of sandwich panels ...

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Homogenization of corrugated core sandwich panels [PDF]

open access: yesComposite Structures, 2003
The present work is devoted to the computation of the effective properties of corrugated core sandwich panels. Due to their periodic structure, the homogenization theory is used, based on the asymptotic expansion method. At the leading order, an equivalent Kirchhoff-Love homogeneous plate is derived, with an overall behavior obtained from basic cell ...

KLK7 overexpression promotes an aggressive phenotype and facilitates peritoneal dissemination in colorectal cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KLK7, a tissue kallikrein‐related peptidase, is elevated in advanced colorectal cancer and associated with shorter survival. High KLK7 levels in ascites correlate with peritoneal metastasis. In mice, KLK7 overexpression increases metastasis. In vitro, KLK7 enhances cancer cell proliferation, migration, adhesion, and spheroid formation, driving ...
