Nonlinear Dynamic Buckling of Sandwich Panels

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1976
Nonlinear dynamic buckling of simply supported rectangular sandwich panels with isotropic cores and with initial curvature under transverse loads is analyzed. The large deflection sandwich panel equations proposed by Reissner are solved using a trigonometric series spacewise and by Houbolt scheme for timewise integration.

Modal density of sandwich panels based on an improved ordinary sandwich panel theory

Composite Structures, 2015
Abstract Modal density of sandwich panels with composite face sheets and orthotropic core is presented based on an improved ordinary sandwich panel theory. The governing equations are derived by applying the Hamilton’s principle, where in-plane rigidity of the core is considered and the material and reference axes are not limited to be identical to ...

Sandwich Panels with Stepped Facings

50th AIAA/ASME/ASCE/AHS/ASC Structures, Structural Dynamics, and Materials Conference, 2009
Sandwich panels have been developed to either design a lighter structure capable of carrying prescribed loads or to increase the load-carrying capacity subject to limitations on the weight. The major loadcarrying elements of a sandwich structure are its facings, while the core primarily serves to resist transverse shear loads, enhance local strength ...

Axially Loaded Sandwich Panels

Journal of Structural Engineering, 1987
In recent years there has been a dramatic increase of interest in sandwich cladding panels consisting of metal faces and a rigid foam core. Previous studies have concentrated on the behavior of these panels when subject to bending action due to wind and snow load and under temperature gradient.

Response of stiffened sandwich panels

22nd Structures, Structural Dynamics and Materials Conference, 1981
An increasingly important part of the design of skin-stringer systems, such as those found in flight vehicles, is the ability to reduce surface vibration levels when they are subjected to the dynamic loads of jet, or propeller noise. One common method of reducing the response of these structures is by layered construction using viscoelastic materials ...

X-joints in Composite Sandwich Panels

1998
The small structural weight of fast large ships such as fast mono hulls or catamaran type of ships is of extreme importance to their success. One possible light weight structural solution is the sandwich panel with fibre reinforced laminates and a balsa, honeycomb or foam core.

Sandwich panels with holes

2014
To increase insight in the behaviour of non-reinforced sandwich panels with openings, experiments, finite element simulations and analytical models have been developed and compared. Analytical models have been developed to determine the global deformations of sandwich panels without cracks.

STABILITY OF SANDWICH PANELS.

2012
The localized wrinkling instability, and the overall buckling of these panels due to axial compression and shear loading are presented. Numerically the finite strip method, the finite prism method, and the finite layer method are especially efficient in analyzing prismatic members such as these architectural sandwich panels, whereas it would be ...

Sandwich panel and a method of producing a sandwich panel

2005
The present invention relates to a sandwich panel comprising a front face plate (2), a back face plate (3) and one or more core materials (4,5), where said front face plate and said back face plate are interconnected by said core materials, where a number of different core inserts, and/or fasteners (51-55,58,59) are provided in connection to said ...
