Human-Induced-Vibration Response Analysis and Comfort Evaluation Method of Large-Span Steel Vierendeel Sandwich Plate

open access: yesBuildings, 2022
A steel Vierendeel sandwich plate used as a large-span lightweight floor structure for vibration comfort during crowd gatherings was considered. Taking the steel Vierendeel sandwich plate in Guizhou Museum as an example, through finite element transient ...

Free Vibrations and Impact Resistance of a Functionally Graded Honeycomb Sandwich Plate

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2021
The functionally graded honeycomb has the characteristic of light weight, low density, high impact resistance, noise reduction, and energy absorption as a kind of new composite inhomogeneous materials.

Theory of bending multi-layer sandwich plates. [PDF]

open access: yesAIAA Journal, 1967
The governing equations for bending of multilayered sandwich, plates are developed by variational methods. The plate is considered to be composed of n membranes, having different thicknesses and possessing different isotropic elastic properties, and (n-1) orthotropic cores.

Relationship between the length of panel side and the deflection of sandwich panels with corrugated core

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2023
This paper reports the relationship between the length of panel side and the deflection of the sandwich panels with corrugated core. The deflections of the sandwich panels having the lengths of panel side from 100 to 1300 mm and the height of the panel ...

Comparative study of dynamically equivalent modeling methods for honeycomb sandwich structure: numerical simulations and experiments [PDF]

open access: yesMechanical Sciences, 2020
The structure of the lightweight honeycomb sandwich panel is complex. Thus, establishing an equivalent simplified model is indispensable to improve the efficiency of the dynamic analysis of honeycomb sandwich panels.

Damage behavior of honeycomb sandwich structure under low-energy impact

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2017
Honeycomb sandwich structure is widely used in aircrafts and ships to absorb impact energy. Damage caused by low-energy impact is difficult to investigate, but will significantly reduce the strength of the sandwich structure.

Vibro-acoustic analysis of an underwater sandwich panel-acoustic cavity-plate coupled system under mechanical excitation

open access: yesZhongguo Jianchuan Yanjiu
ObjectivesThis study aims to establish a vibro-acoustic coupling model for an underwater sandwich panel coupled with an acoustic cavity and a back plate under elastic boundary constraints. It further investigates the influence of back plate damping, back

Hyperactive ice‐binding proteins stabilize cell membranes and improve resistance to dehydration stress in Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.

Wave Dispersion Analysis of Functionally Graded GPLs-Reinforced Sandwich Piezoelectromagnetic Plates with a Honeycomb Core

open access: yesMathematics, 2022
This paper studies wave propagation in a new structure composed of three layers. The upper and lower layers are made of a piezoelectromagnetic material reinforced with graphene platelets (GPLs) that may be uniformly disseminated or continuously varied ...

Identifying and characterising a plant GH1 β‐glucosidase that exhibits hydrolytic activity on N‐linked glucopyranoside

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We report the first β‐glucosidase with demonstrated hydrolytic activity on an N‐linked glycopyranoside. The enzyme, native to maize, was biochemically characterised for this novel reaction, and structural modelling of the enzyme–substrate complex revealed several clues to the underlying reduced catalytic rate relative to its native O‐glycopyranoside ...
