THERMAL STRESSES IN SANDWICH PLATES
Journal of Thermal Stresses, 1989An elasticity solution for thermal stresses in sandwich plates under uniform temperature changes is presented. The interlayer shear stresses are considered in this analysis for the first time. For comparison, the finite-element method is used. Analytical and numerical results are found in good agreements. To facilitate the practical applications of the

The object of this chapter is to establish the equations for the mechanical behavior of sandwich plates. A sandwich material (Chapter 3) is made from a material of low density (the core) having face sheets (the skins), made of plates or laminates bonded to each of the surfaces. The essential function of the core is to transfer, by transverse shear, the

Cylindrical Buckling of Sandwich Plates
Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1946Abstract In the buckling of “sandwich plates” with a relatively easily deformed interior, or core, material, the core is not stiff enough to keep plane sections plane when the bending occurs. The core must then be analyzed according to the equations of plane strain, but the fact that the bending takes place in the presence of thrust ...

Optimization for buckling of composite sandwich plates
AIAA Journal, 1997Summary: Consider a composite sandwich plate with balanced or unbalanced anisotropic composite laminated faces and an ideally orthotropic core. A closed-form solution of the buckling load is derived for the composite sandwich plates consisting of cross-ply symmetric laminate faces with all edges simply supported.

Plate Velocities for Asymmetric Sandwiches
Propellants, Explosives, Pyrotechnics, 1997AbstractFor the prediction of the plate velocities of asymmetric sandwiches, a simple equation basing only on the momentum law will be presented, which is easier to use than the formula given in the literature. It predicts nearly the same results or the deviations are smaller than the experimental scatters.

Optimization of Thick Sandwich Plates
1995The objective of the present study is to obtain a minimum stress design of sandwich plates under flexural loads based on a higher-order theory which includes the effects of both shear and normal deformation. In thick sandwich plates with layers whose mechanical properties differ substantially, the effect of normal deformation is considerable and the ...

Frequency-Response Functions of Orthotropic Sandwich Plates
Journal of the Aerospace Sciences, 1961Summary A method is presented for the determination of the frequencyresponse functions of the components of deformation and of stress in orthotropic sandwich plates. It applies to the case of simply supported rectangular plates, loaded by pressure normal to their planes.

Enhancement of Blast Resistance of Sandwich Plates
Composites Part B: Engineering, 2005This research examines the effect of design modifications on response of sandwich plates to impulse pressure loads. The objective is to limit damage by delamination of the laminated face sheets and by crushing of the structural foam core that dominates response of conventionally designed sandwich plates.

Dynamical joints influence of sandwich plates
1999The simulation of joints in structures of sandwich panels is very important in order to obtain values of the analytical natural frequencies and mode shapes that are in accordance with the experimental values. By means of a FEM program and an experimental set for modal analysis, different assemblies of sandwich plates in aluminium, fit together with ...
