Sandwich Plates with Interlayer Slips
Journal of Engineering Mechanics, 1984An elasticity solution for sandwich plates assembled with nonrigid bondings is presented. The solution satisfies the equilibrium equations of the face and core elements, the compatibility equations of stresses and strains at the interfaces, and the relevant boundary conditions.

Bending of Circular Sandwich Plates
Journal of the Engineering Mechanics Division, 1965The governing differential equations for the nonrotationally symmetrical bending of isotropic circular sandwich plates are developed by means of a variational theorem. The face layers are considered as membranes but made of different materials and unequal thickness; however, for simplicity, Poisson's ratio is assumed to be the same. In the present case,

Finite Deflections of Sandwich Plates
Journal of the Aeronautical Sciences, 1948This paper gives the basic differential equations for finite transverse deflections of sandwich plates under the following assumptions. The plate consists of a core layer and of two face layers of such construction that the face-parallel stresses in the core and the variation of the face stresses over the thickness of the face layers are negligible ...

Simplified Vibration Analysis of Elastic Sandwich Plates
Journal of the Aerospace Sciences, 1960In a sequence of three recent papers a new flexural theory of elastic sandwich plates has been developed, 2 and, on the basis of the theory, the flexural vibration of sandwich plates has been analyzed. The theory is good for a very wide frequency range that is of practical interest, but vibration analysis on the basis of the theory will in general be ...

Linear Modeling of Sandwich Plates
1996The sandwich plate that was analyzed in Chapter 2 on the basis of linear elasticity theory is treated again in this chapter, now on the basis of equations of sandwich plates to be derived. We recall that the sandwich plate consists of three homogeneous, elastic, and isotropic layers that are symmetrically constructed with respect to the middle plane of

On the Torsion of Rectangular Sandwich Plates
Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1956Abstract The torsional rigidity of rectangular sandwich plates of constant thickness is calculated, with cross sections assumed free to warp. The faces are isotropic and of equal thickness while the core may be orthotropic, the axes of orthotropy coinciding with co-ordinate axes of the structure.

Note on Bending of Thick Sandwich Plates
Journal of the Aeronautical Sciences, 1951BENDING THEORIES for homogeneous plates are of three types, which essentially depend upon the thickness of the plate, h, relative to either the deflection, 8, or a characteristic length, I: (a) Linear bending theory for thin plates is used when the deflections and thickness are small—i.e., 8/h

The Optimum Problem of the Sandwich Plate
Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1952Abstract While numerous papers have been published on the stability of sandwich plates in compression, Fig. 1, so far, attention has almost exclusively been focused on the problem of finding the critical load under which the plate becomes unstable, assuming that the dimensions and the materials are given. Some 7 or 8 years ago the author
