Self‐Assembled Lipids as Soft Dielectrics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Self‐assembled lipid bilayers serve as soft dielectric materials for ultrathin electronics. Using liquid‐metal parallel‐plate junctions, the capacitance and dielectric breakdown of dehydrated lipid films are characterized. Dielectric behavior is controlled by lipid molecular structure, cholesterol content, and assembly conditions, providing molecular ...

Transient Response of Partially-Bonded Sandwich Plates Subject to Underwater Explosions

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2010
This paper investigated the influence of interfacial bonding on the transient response of sandwich plates subject to underwater explosions. It was found that un-bonded sandwich plates receive lower impact energy, and are able to dissipate more energy ...

Design and Characterization of a Two‐Dimensional Soft Array Based on Cooperative Dielectric Elastomer Actuators

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A fully polymeric two‐dimensional array of Dielectric Elastomers enables self‐sensing, cooperative actuation, and large‐stroke operation in a DE‐based autonomous conveyor. Based only on voltage and current measurements at actuator level, the system detects the presence of a ball and subsequently drives it toward a target position.

Local model of plane acoustic waves propagation in multilayered infinite sandwich structures

open access: yesArchives of Mechanics, 2011
A local model for computing the coincidence frequencies and the transmission loss of multilayered infinite sandwich plates composed of isotropic layers is presented in the paper. The model is derived within the local theory of linear elastodynamics under

Roll‐to‐Roll Processable EC/TC Hybrid Smart Windows Driven by a Bidirectional Dual‐Chromic Polymer Electrolyte

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present a scalable EC/TC hybrid smart window using a DCPE that enables tunable solar modulation (ΔTsol:15–43%), fast electrochromic switching (<90 s), and strong thermal blocking (10–14°C reduction). HPMC improves thermal stability, while an optimized ISL enhances EC performance.

Efficient asymptotic basis to reduce the forced dynamic problem of viscoelastic sandwich plates

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2016
In this paper, an efficient asymptotic basis is proposed to reduce the forced dynamic problem of viscoelastic sandwich plates. The numerical resolution is based on the asymptotic numerical method (ANM) and finite element method (FEM).

Vascularization of Human iPSC‐Derived Kidney Organoids Using Perfusion Culture, Pre‐Vascularized Collagen Scaffolds, and Decellularized Extracellular Matrix

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
An integrated perfusion‐based culture platform combining pre‐vascularized collagen scaffolds, stromal vascular fraction cells, and kidney decellularized extracellular matrix promotes vascularization of human iPSC‐derived kidney organoids. The platform provides evidence of interactions between vascular networks and glomerular‐like structures and enables

A Four-Variable Shear Deformation Theory for the Static Analysis of FG Sandwich Plates with Different Porosity Models

open access: yesMathematical and Computational Applications
This study is centered on examining the static bending behavior of sandwich plates featuring functionally graded materials, specifically addressing distinct representations of porosity distribution across their thickness.

Comparison of the behavior of CHO cells during cultivation in 24-square deep well microplates and conventional shake flask systems

open access: yesBiotechnology Reports, 2014
In biopharmaceutical production, the optimization of cell culture media and supplementation is a vital element of process development. Optimization is usually achieved through the screening of multiple media, feed and feeding strategies.
