Scalable Polyelectrolyte Complex‐Based Sorbent With Hourly Sorption−Desorption Cycles for Multicyclic Atmospheric Water Harvesting in Arid Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A polyelectrolyte complex‐based sorbent is produced by scalable, environmentally benign aqueous phase inversion. Its porous, LiCl‐ and GO‐integrated architecture enables hourly adsorption−desorption cycles at low relative humidity (RH < 30%). A large‐scale prototype achieves multicyclic, solar‐driven atmospheric water harvesting of 1.37 L kg−1 day−1 ...

Liquid Phase Transmission Electron Microscopy: A Window into the Early Stages of Complex Material Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Liquid‐phase transmission electron microscopy enables direct observation of nucleation and growth processes in solution. This review is dedicated to the remembrance of Helmut Cölfen and highlights recent studies on complex materials—oxides, biominerals, organic–inorganic crystals—which were central to his research activity. It summarizes key milestones,

Core design for use with precision composite reflectors [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
A uniformly flexible core, and method for manufacturing the same, is disclosed for use between the face plates of a sandwich structure. The core is made of a plurality of thin corrugated strips, the corrugations being defined by a plurality of peaks and ...

Regulated Ion‐Diffusion Hydrogels for Subtle and Multimodal Temperature‐Strain Sensing in Wound Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A soft, dual‐channel hydrogel patch enables simultaneous detection of wound temperature and strain by integrating ion‐diffusion‐mediated thermoelectric and resistive sensing. The conformal design maintains stable performance during motion, capturing subtle inflammatory and mechanical changes for continuous wound monitoring.

Structural damping in sandwich shells

open access: yesEngineering Transactions, 1976
The basic equations governing the motion of sandwich shells are derived through the use of a variational procedure. Structural damping is investigated in the case of a cylindrical sandwich shell with dissimilar facings, executing axially symmetric free vibrations.

Interfacial Modulation for High‐Efficiency Large‐Area Organic Photovoltaics and Perovskite‐Organic Tandem Solar Modules

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Self‐assembled monolayers (SAMs) are promising hole‐transporting materials for organic photovoltaics (OPVs), but suffer from self‐aggregation and poor large‐area uniformity. We find that interfacial modification using nicotinic hydrazide can eliminate the residual SAM aggregates by forming energetically favorable complexes, yielding uniform SAM.

Damage behavior of honeycomb sandwich structure under low-energy impact

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2017
Honeycomb sandwich structure is widely used in aircrafts and ships to absorb impact energy. Damage caused by low-energy impact is difficult to investigate, but will significantly reduce the strength of the sandwich structure.
