Applied Mechanics Reviews, 2001
The use of sandwich structures is increasing rapidly. It is used in many applications ranging from satellites, aircraft, ships, automobiles, rail cars, and in bridge construction to mention only a few. The purpose of the following review article is to provide a general introduction to or discussion of the structural mechanics involved in the field of ...

Web-Stiffened Sandwich Structures
Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1971A model representation of a web-cored sandwich structure, which is based upon the energy principles of continuum theory while retaining the discrete nature of the webs, is studied. The determination of a second-order shear modulus, which measures local bending effects, accounts for the transverse shear deformation of the core.

Deformation of Sandwich Structure
The Journal of the Royal Aeronautical Society, 1965The purpose of this note is to present formulae, derived by stationary energy considerations, for the deflection of an arbitrary length of sandwich structure subjected to the three-point bend test, for comparison with experimental results.

Homogenization of sandwich structures
International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, 2004AbstractA homogenization method is proposed for sandwich structures consisting of two plates interlaced with beams and shells in a periodic, lattice structure. The proposed method is a quasi‐continuum approach where the constitutive response is obtained from the generalized forces of the interlacing elements.

Integrally Woven Sandwich-Structures
1989New technical opportunities with regard to manufacturing and mechanical properties are opened up by the development of new integrally woven sandwich structures. In these fibre constructions, two fabric layers are separated by a woven-in system of z-directional fibres. After impregnation with a resin, the double-wall fabrics form the sandwich structure.

Stability Analysis of Multilayer Sandwich Structures
AIAA Journal, 1973The finite element method is applied to the stability analysis of multilayer sandwich structures with n stiff layers and n-1 weak cores, in which each layer or core can assume different material properties, so that the concept of common shear angle is no longer applicable. A beam element, a rectangular plate element and a triangular element are used in

Study on Sandwich Core Modeling for Structural Analysis of Sandwich Composite Structure
Materials Science Forum, 2018This study aims to investigate numerically the damage area of a sandwich composite structure. In this work, the optimal sandwich core modeling method was proposed. This study applied two modeling methods to compare their analysis results for the structural analysis of the sandwich composite structure.
