Complex, Dynamic Combination of Physical, Chemical and Nutritional Variables Controls Spatio-Temporal Variation of Sandy Beach Community Structure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011

Managing the Threat of Subsidized Predators for a Threatened Shorebird

open access: yesAnimal Conservation, EarlyView.
Subsidized predators—native predators that have become more common due to human activities—challenge the persistence of many at‐risk prey species and require creative solutions beyond lethal predator control. In an 8‐year study, we placed small wire cages over western snowy plover nests that allow passage of plovers, but not their predators, and ...

Beach Cycle and Beach-face Slope on Sandy Beaches.

open access: yesKikan Chirigaku, 1998

Shallow Surveying in Hazardous Waters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Of order one importance to any study of nearshore processes is knowledge of the bathymetry in shallow water. This is true for studies on open coast sandy beaches where surf zone dynamics drive the system, inlet environments where bathymetric evolution ...

Sandy beaches hold an important socio-economic value related to tourism and recreation and simultaneously fulfill various ecosystem services like providing food, water and maintaining biodiversity. Sandy systems are among the most dynamic environments in
