Detrital zircon ages, Lu‐Hf isotopes of zircon grains, Sr‐Nd isotopes on whole rock and geochemistry of Campanian turbidites in the Eastern Pontides (NE Türkiye): A provenance assessment and Gondwana records

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, Volume 12, Issue 4, September 2026.
These findings confirm that the Campanian‐aged Bozbent Member turbiditic sequence in the Eastern Pontides was deposited in an extensional fore‐arc basin and therefore exhibits the petrographic and geochemical characteristics of passive margin sandstones.

New calcareous dinoflagellates (Calciodinelloideae) from the Middle Coniacian to Upper Santonian chalks of Lägerdorf (northern Germany)

open access: yes, 2004
. Three new calcareous dinoflagellate species from the Middle Coniacian to Upper Santonian chalks of Lägerdorf (northern Germany) are formally described: Calcicarpinum macrogranulum n. sp., Pirumella fragilis n. sp. and Ruegenia quinqueangulata n.

Upper Cretaceous Peritidal Deposits of Olib and Ist Islands (Adriatic Sea, Croatia)

open access: yesGeologia Croatica, 2010
Upper Cretaceous carbonate deposits of Olib and Ist islands are characteristic of peritidal sediments. They consist of shallow subtidal deposits alternating with intertidal laminites (shallowing-upward cycles).

Building the Andean Crust at ∼35°S: Arc Geochemistry Reveals Cretaceous Thinning and Rapid Neogene Thickening

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 131, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract Quantification of the timing and mechanisms of crustal thickening in Cordilleran orogenic hinterlands remains challenging. We address this in the Andes using whole‐rock geochemistry and zircon petrochronology from a >70 Myr volcanic record in the Tinguiririca valley of Chile (∼35° ${}^{\circ}$S), which captures a pivotal transition from ...

Establishment of Upper Cretaceous bio- and carbon isotope stratigraphy in the northwest Pacific Ocean and radiometric ages around the Albian/Cenomanian, Coniacian/Santonian and Santonian/Campanian boundaries

open access: yes, 2019
International audienceThe Yezo Group, exposed in Hokkaido, northern Japan, is one of the few strata that recorded Cretaceous paleo-oceanographic changes in the Pacific Ocean.

New craniodental materials of Falcarius utahensis (Theropoda: Therizinosauria) reveal patterns of intraspecific variation and cranial evolution in early coelurosaurians

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, Volume 309, Issue 8, Page 1995-2048, August 2026.
Abstract Despite documented ecomorphological shifts toward an herbivorous diet in several coelurosaurian lineages, the evolutionary tempo and mode of these changes remain poorly understood, hampered by sparse cranial materials for early representatives of major clades. This is particularly true for Therizinosauria, with representative crania best known

The Rhynchonellide Brachiopod Cyclothyris ? globata (Arnaud, 1877) from the Santonian-Campanian of Pannonides, Carpatho-Balkanides and Dinarides, South-Eastern Europe [PDF]

open access: yesGeološki Anali Balkanskoga Poluostrva, 2002
The asymmetric rhynchonellide brachiopods Rhynchonella difformis Valenciennes in Lamarck and R. contorta d'Orbigny were often mentioned in the stratigraphic literature on Santonian-Campanian outcrops of the Pannonides, Carpatho-Balkanides and Dinarides ...

Exhumed eo‐Alpine High‐Pressure Rocks Fed Campanian Turbidites in Eastern Sardinia

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 27, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract This study investigates the detrital record of the early orogenic evolution of the Sardinia‐Calabria system, preserved in Upper Cretaceous arenites exposed in eastern Sardinia. Sardinia and Corsica form a continental block that includes a segment of the Alpine orogen and of its former foreland basin.

Santonian - Campanian (Upper Cretaceous) inoceramids from the Houthalen mineshaft, NE Belgium [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The Santonian and Campanian inoceramids from the Houthalen mineshaft (Limburg, NE Belgium) are described. Four successive faunas were distinguished: the Sphenoceramus pachti fauna, dated for the Middle Santonian, the Sphenoceramus patootensiformis fauna,
