ASSESSMENT OF CORN WATER UPTAKE BASED ON SAP HEAT TRACING UNDER WATER-STRESSED CONDITIONS [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Engenharia Agrícola e Ambiental, 1999
ABSTRACT Crop water monitoring is an important aspect for precise control of irrigation. A reliable and movable technique is needed to properly assess water uptake of crops in the field. Water uptake by field grown maize ( Zea mays L.), in water-limited conditions was verified with the heat pulse system.

Influence of Super Absorbent Polymer (SAP) on Mechanical, Durability Properties, and Internal Curing Mechanism of Cement Stabilized Macadam in Desert Environment

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering
Semi-rigid base materials in desert areas are susceptible to fast evaporation of water due to high-temperature and dry environment during construction and curing, leading to insufficient cement hydration and shrinkage cracking, thus affecting the ...

Transition from bamboo sap to water: Aquatic habits in the sap beetle Amphicrossus japonicus (Coleoptera: Cucujoidea: Nitidulidae) [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Entomology, 2007
Amphicrossus japonicus is the first known facultatively aquatic nitidulid. The adult beetles breed in bamboo sap and subsequently enter water-filled bamboo culms. In water they breathe via a ventral air sheath held by hydrofuge pubescence. The beetles are facultative predators and hunt mosquito larvae, which they grab with their forelegs.

Super Absorbent Polymer (SAP) and Irrigation Water Conservation [PDF]

open access: yesIrrigation & Drainage Systems Engineering, 2012
Human activities require more and more resources- among them water is certainly the most precious. Modern agriculture consumes almost two thirds of the water pumped in United States. For this reason, more and more people are seeking ways to conserve it.

Study on Water Absorption–Dehydration Characteristics for SAP Composite Soil for Rainwater Harvesting

open access: yes, 2020
As a water absorption material, superabsorbent polymer (SAP) has gained its popularity in agriculture and environmental remediations. This study conducted a comparative investigation on saturated water content of cinnamon soil mixed with SAP.

Leading a horse to water...: Assessing review mechanisms of SAPS performance

open access: yesSouth African Crime Quarterly, 2015
There have been no shortage of reviews, evaluations and audits of police performance in South Africa over the past decade. This article provides a detailed description of the key findings of a number of reviews relating to the role and function of the SAPS. A closer reading of these reviews points to considerable agreement about the systemic weaknesses

Influence of Super-Absorbent Polymer on Growth and Productivity of Green Bean under Drought Conditions

open access: yesAgronomy
The water-retaining and yield-increasing capacity of super-absorbent polymer (SAP) are essential for soil remediation in arid and semi-arid areas. Water availability is an increasing challenge to plant development and crop yield.
