Safeguarding the Photoluminescence of Silver Sulfide Nanocrystals in Biological Environments via Silica Shielding

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Interactions with biomolecules can alter the photoluminescence of Ag2S nanocrystals, undermining near‐infrared imaging and thermometry. Incorporation into dendritic silica minimizes these interactions and preserves emission intensity, spectral response, and lifetime in plasma and whole blood. This shielding enables more reliable imaging and temperature

Giant thrombosed saphenofemoral junction aneurysm: A case report

open access: yesSAGE Open Medical Case Reports, 2017
Introduction: Although saphenofemoral junction aneurysms are not so rare, only scarce of the published cases reported thrombosis of the aneurysmal sac and saphenous trunk.

Perioperative analgesia and postoperative motor function after saphenous and sciatic nerve blocks in goats undergoing bilateral stifle surgery: A pilot study

open access: yesVeterinary Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The combination of femoral and sciatic nerve blocks offers adequate perioperative analgesia for goats undergoing stifle surgery. However, postoperatively, residual motor dysfunction may lead to distress and discomfort. This study evaluated whether combined saphenous and sciatic nerve blocks provide adequate perioperative analgesia ...

The Short Saphenous Vein: An Alternative to the Long Saphenous Vein for Aortocoronary Bypass

open access: yes, 1978
The long saphenous vein and the internal mammary artery are considered at present to be the best grafts available for coronary artery bypass. Patients who have had bilateral long saphenous vein stripping and who require multiple aortocoronary bypass ...

Great saphenous vein leiomyosarcoma: a rare case report and literature review

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology
Great saphenous vein leiomyosarcoma is an extremely rare tumor clinically, which is often misdiagnosed as superficial venous thrombosis due to atypical clinical manifestations.

Micro‐Nanoplastics Significantly Increase Adverse Events and Economic Burden Associated With Carotid Endarterectomy: A Health Economic Modelling Evaluation

open access: yesANZ Journal of Surgery, EarlyView.
Current research reports that micro‐nanoplastics may increase the burden of cardiovascular disease with significant human and economic consequences. The detection of plastic particles in biological matrices is challenging and rigorous research is required to investigate the clinical and broader public health implications of microplastics.

Managing coronary artery vein bypass graft stump pseudoaneurysm: a novel approach

open access: yesJournal of the Belgian Society of Radiology, 2012
We present a case of a pseudoaneurysm of the saphenous vein graft stump, which was managed with percutaneous thrombin injection. Aneurysms of a saphenous vein coronary bypass graft are rare and aneurysms of a bypass graft stump are even rarer.

Accurate diagnosis of isolated iliac vein thrombosis in third trimester pregnancy with clues on great saphenous vein reflux: a case report and review of literature

open access: yesBMC Pregnancy and Childbirth, 2023
Background Pregnancy is known to be a risk factor for venous thromboembolism (VTE). We report the case of a pregnant patient with difficult to diagnose iliac vein thrombosis, establishing a definite diagnosis by clues of great saphenous vein reflux. Case
