Hydrothermal Synthesis of Interstratified Lizardite/Saponite
Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 1998A novel interstratified lizardite/saponite which has never been found in nature is hydrothermally synthesized from uniform Si‐Al‐Mg gels at 300°C. The stacking ratios of lizardite layer to saponite layer in the structure are designed between 3/1 and 1/3. These materials give partially ordered X‐ray diffraction patterns depending on

Saponite from Near Ballarat, California
Clays and Clay Minerals, 1984AbstractWhite saponite occurs in joints and open fracture zones in metamorphosed dolomitic limestone near Ballarat, California. The saponite appears to have formed by hydrothermal alteration, possibly during Pliocene times. The material shows a 06l X-ray powder diffraction peak at 1.529 Å, A12O3 and MgO contents of about 4.4 and 23.5%, respectively ...

Saponite, thalite, greenalite, greenstone
Geological Society of America Bulletin, 1912Saponite A soft, soapy earth, varying in color from nearly white to greenish and bluish colors, has been known for more than a hundred and fifty years. It has been called soapstone and porcellanous earth. It was found to fill cavities in rocks, and especially in those rocks that contain little or no potassium, such as basic trap rocks.

Triazine adsorption by saponite and beidellite clay minerals
Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, 2006Abstract We investigated the sorption of three triazine herbicides (atrazine, simazine, and metribuzin) by saponite and beidellite clay minerals saturated with K+, Cs+, Na+, and Ca2+. Saponite clay sorbed a larger fraction of each pesticide from aqueous solution than did beidellite clay.

Pillaring of saponite with zirconium oligomers
Microporous and Mesoporous Materials, 1998Abstract The intercalation of two saponites and a montmorillonite with various zirconium oligomers, prepared from the hydrolysis of zirconyl chloride or zirconium acetate, has been studied. The structure of the intercalated clays strongly depended on the method of preparation and on the nature and crystallinity of the clays studied.

Synthesis and characterization of saponite clays
American Mineralogist, 2005A new procedure has been developed for a fast preparation of saponite clays under the non-hydrothermal synthesis conditions of 90 degrees Celsius and 1 atmosphere. Saponites were synthesised from a stoichiometric mixture containing Si/Al3+ gel, M2+-nitrate (M2+ = Mg, Zn, Ni, Co, or Cu), urea and water within a few hours.

Sorption of hydrochloric acid with saponite
Journal of Water Chemistry and Technology, 2013We have investigated sorption of hydrochloric acid with saponite of the Varvarovskii deposit, Khmelnitsky region (Ukraine) against various salt backgrounds in the solution, varied by an addition of sodium chloride. Information has been obtained on desorption of cations of Na+, K+, Ca2+, Mg2+, Fen+, Al3+ from saponite at different acidity of the ...

SAPONIT MINERALINI QAYTA ISHLASH
Tadqiqotlar natijasi shuni koʻrsatdiki saponit minerali tarkibida kalsiy va magniy oksidi 20-23% ni tashkil etadi. Ushbu saponit mineralini xlorid kislota bilan qayta ishlash jarayoni va kalsiy xlorid tuzi bilan qoʻshib kuydirish jarayoni orqali magniy xlorid eritmasini ajratib olish va uni magniy xloratigacha oʻtkazish boʻyicha olib borilgan ...Pirnazarov, Feruz, Umirov, Farxod

Al-Pillared saponites. Part 2.—NMR studies
J. Chem. Soc., Faraday Trans., 1994A saponite from Ballarat was intercalated with Al polycations by four different procedures involving different sources of polycations, and stabilised by calcination (pillared). 29Si and 27Al solid-state MNR of both the intercalated and the pillared samples have been measured and are discussed.

Dehydration and Rehydration of Saponite and Vermiculite
Clays and Clay Minerals, 1991AbstractThe rehydration properties and behavior of interlayer cations of Ca-, Mg-, Na-, and K-saturated homoionic saponite and vermiculite heated at various temperatures were examined and their rehydration mechanisms elucidated. The most notable features of saponite were (1) except for the Mg-saturated specimen, all saponite samples rehydrated until ...
