The Nucleic Acids of Sarcina lutea [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of General Microbiology, 1956
SUMMARY: The deoxypentosenucleic acid (DNA) and pentosenucleic acid (PNA) were isolated from Sarcina lutea and their purine and pyrimidine contents determined. No differences were detected in composition of either the DNA or the PNA isolated from cultures grown at different times.

Synthetic Polyploidisation Enhances Fusarium graminearum Tolerance in Wheat by Reshaping the Transcriptome and Strengthening the Microbiome

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 23, Issue 11, Page 5252-5278, November 2025.
ABSTRACT Polyploidisation is a natural evolutionary mechanism that enhances plant stress tolerance and environmental adaptability; however, its impact on microbiome homeostasis remains poorly understood. In this study, we selected a nascent euploid synthetic hexaploid wheat line (HG116; 2n = 6x = 42, BBAADD) by selfing a triploid F1 hybrid of Triticum ...

Rapid and Ultra‐Sensitive SARS‐CoV‐2 Subgenomic RNA Detection Using Single‐Molecule With a Large Transistor‐SiMoT Bioelectronic Platform

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, Volume 11, Issue 17, October 20, 2025.
The single‐molecule with a large transistor‐SiMoT is proposed for the detection of the subgenomic RNA of SARS‐CoV‐2, achieving a diagnostic sensitivity of 98.0% and a specificity of 87.8%. The SiMoT technology, currently at TRL‐5, is suitable for point‐of‐care settings and delivers the result to the end user in 30 min.

A gut microbiota‐bile acid axis inhibits the infection of an emerging coronavirus by targeting its cellular receptor aminopeptidase N

open access: yesiMeta, Volume 4, Issue 5, October 2025.
Bacteroides fragilis employs bile salt hydrolase to reprogram host bile acid metabolism, generating lithocholic acid that directly blocks porcine deltacoronavirus infection by disrupting spike protein‐aminopeptidase N binding, defining a microbiota‐bile acid antiviral axis with therapeutic potential against coronaviruses.
