Bifidobacterium Is Enriched in Gut Microbiome of Kashmiri Women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a very common endocrine condition in women in India. Gut microbiome alterations were shown to be involved in PCOS, yet it is remarkably understudied in Indian women who have a higher incidence of PCOS as compared to ...

Purification and characterization of pyruvate decarboxylase from Sarcina ventriculi [PDF]

open access: bronzeJournal of General Microbiology, 1992
Pyruvate decarboxylase from the obligate anaerobe Sarcina ventriculi was purified eightfold. The subunit Mr was 57,000 +/- 3000 as estimated from SDS-PAGE, and the native Mr estimated by gel filtration on a Superose 6 column was 240,000, indicating that the enzyme is a tetramer.

SARCINA VENTRICULI-RELATED GASTRITIS: A RARE CASE OF GASTRIC INFECTION IN A PATIENT WITH DELAYED GASTRIC EMPTYING

open access: goldInternational Journal of Current Pharmaceutical Research
Sarcina ventriculi (SV), which is also called Clostridium ventriculi, is a rare, non-motile, aerobic, Gram-positive coccus that breaks down carbohydrates through fermentation. It thrives in acidic environments, making the human stomach a suitable habitat,

Engineering pyruvate decarboxylase-mediated ethanol production in the thermophilic host Geobacillus thermoglucosidasius [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This study reports the expression, purification, and kinetic characterization of a pyruvate decarboxylase (PDC) from Gluconobacter oxydans . Kinetic analyses showed the enzyme to have high affinity for pyruvate (120 μM at pH 5), high catalytic efficiency

Synthesis, physico-chemical characterization and bacteriostatic study of Pt complexes with substituted amine ligands [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Three complexes of general formula PtCl2R2 were synthesized, where R is the amine ligand with aromatic substituents. Coordination compounds [Pt(an)2Cl2] (1), [Pt(pa)2Cl2] (2) and [Pt(aph)2Cl2] (3), where an = 2-aminonaphthalene, pa = 2-aminopyrimidine ...

Emphysematous gastritis due to Sarcina ventriculi infection in a diabetic liver-kidney transplant recipient

open access: yesAutopsy and Case Reports, 2021
Emphysematous gastritis (EG) is a rare and potentially lethal process caused by invasive, gas-producing bacteria leading to inflammation and gas dissection of the stomach.

Unexplained Portal Gas in a Patient with an Esophageal Ulcer

open access: yesCase Reports in Gastrointestinal Medicine, Volume 2018, Issue 1, 2018., 2018
Emphysematous gastritis is the infection of gastric mucosa by gas producing microorganisms. It is a rare infection with less than 100 cases reported in the literature. The association of portal venous gas along with emphysematous gastritis is a rare entity. The concomitant portal venous gas worsens the outcome and warrant for surgical treatment.

The Bifunctional Pyruvate Decarboxylase/Pyruvate Ferredoxin Oxidoreductase from Thermococcus guaymasensis

open access: yesArchaea, Volume 2014, Issue 1, 2014., 2014
The hyperthermophilic archaeon Thermococcus guaymasensis produces ethanol as a metabolic end product, and an alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) catalyzing the reduction of acetaldehyde to ethanol has been purified and characterized. However, the enzyme catalyzing the formation of acetaldehyde has not been identified.
