The common Buzzard (Buteo buteo) was previously shown to transmit two Sarcocystis species (S. glareoli and S. microti) forming cysts in the brains of rodents. Due to a lack of research, the richness of Sarcocystis species spread by these birds of prey is

Genome evolution in intracellular parasites: Microsporidia and Apicomplexa
Abstract Microsporidia and Apicomplexa are eukaryotic, single‐celled, intracellular parasites with huge public health and economic importance. Typically, these parasites are studied separately, emphasizing their uniqueness and diversity. In this review, we explore the huge amount of genomic data that has recently become available for the two groups. We

Disseminated Sarcocystis miescheriana infection in a finisher pig in Grenada
This is the first reported case of sarcocystosis due to Sarcocystis miescheriana in a pig on a farm in Grenada. The definitive and intermediate hosts for S. miescheriana are pigs and dogs, respectively. Severe infection by the parasite resulted in the condemnation of the entire carcass at meat inspection.
