Sarcocystis spp. Infection in two Red Panda Cubs (Ailurus fulgens)

Journal of Comparative Pathology, 2015
Two neonatal male red panda (Ailurus fulgens) littermates were submitted for necropsy examination. One animal was found dead with no prior signs of illness; the other had a brief history of laboured breathing. Post-mortem examination revealed disseminated protozoal infection. To further characterize the causative agent, transmission electron microscopy

Prevalence of Sarcocystis spp. in meat-producing animals in Iraq

Veterinary Parasitology, 1999
The prevalence of Sarcocystis spp. infection was investigated in 605 sheep, 826 goats, 1080 cattle, 580 water buffaloes and 36 camels slaughtered from 1992 to 1996 in the Baghdad area (Iraq) using naked eye examination for macroscopic sarcocysts, and peptic digestion, muscle squash, squeezing methods and indirect fluorescent antibody test (IFAT) for ...

Ultrastructure of Sarcocystis spp. from donkeys (Equus asinus) in Egypt

Veterinary Parasitology, 1987
The fine structure of Sarcocystis spp. from donkeys (Equus asinus) in Egypt is described. Sarcocysts were found in the oesophagus, diaphragm and heart of 18 of 20 donkeys. Only one type of mature muscle cyst was found. Sarcocysts were 120-410.6 X 48.4-50.2 microns. The primary cyst wall had numerous 3.3-3.7 microns villi.

[Characterization of monoclonal antibodies to Sarcocystis spp].

DTW. Deutsche tierarztliche Wochenschrift, 1989
Monoclonal antibodies have become powerful tools in immunology and biotechnology during the last decade. They are successfully used in a lot of fields in parasitology. This paper gives an overview of difficulties currently associated with immunodiagnosis of Sarcocystis infections and of the production and characterization of monoclonal antibodies for ...

Phylogenetic analysis of Sarcocystis spp. of mammals and reptiles supports the coevolution of Sarcocystis spp. with their final hosts.

International journal for parasitology, 1999
Sequences of the small subunit rRNA genes were obtained for two coccidians, Sarcocystis dispersa and an unnamed Sarcocystis sp. which parasitise the European barn owl and an African viperid snake as their final host, respectively, and share mouse as their intermediate host. Phylogenetic analysis of the sequence data showed that Sarcocystis sp. from the
