Phase Ib/II Study of the Safety and Efficacy of Combination Therapy with Multikinase VEGF Inhibitor Pazopanib and MEK Inhibitor Trametinib In Advanced Soft Tissue Sarcoma. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Purpose: Pazopanib, a multireceptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor targeting primarily VEGFRs1–3, is approved for advanced soft tissue sarcoma (STS) and renal cell cancer. Downstream of VEGFR, trametinib is an FDA-approved MEK inhibitor used for melanoma.

Data‐Independent Acquisition Mass Spectrometry in Tumor Classification and Cancer Biomarker Research

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
Abstract Cancer treatment is far from optimal also because current classification systems do not reflect the complex molecular status of the tumor and its phenotype in sufficient detail. To construct molecular tumor classifiers, omics tools provide complex molecular data reflecting many aspects from genotype to phenotype.

CRISPR‐Cas9 Genome‐Wide Screening in Paediatric Cancer: Functional Genomics for Target Discovery and the Improvement of Existing Therapies

open access: yesMedicinal Research Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT CRISPR‐Cas9 genome‐wide screening has been instrumental towards identifying novel targets for drug discovery in cancer research. However, much of this research has centred specifically on adult cancers, with paediatric cancers being underserviced by current research and screening.

BRD9 inhibition as potential treatment option for testicular germ cell tumors

open access: yesAndrology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Testicular germ cell tumors (TGCT) are the predominant tumor in younger males. Usually, 5‐year survival rates are quite high, but 15–20% of patients with metastatic non‐seminomas are resistant to standard cisplatin‐based therapy.

Ossifying spindled and epithelioid tumour: Expanding the clinical and morphologic spectrum of a recently described entity

open access: yesHistopathology, EarlyView.
Ossifying spindled and epithelioid tumour (OSET) can show unusual morphologic features, including minimal or absent peripheral ossification, eosinophil‐rich stroma, increased mitotic activity (≥5 mitotic figures per 10 high‐power fields), and necrosis.

Primary Renal Synovial Sarcoma

open access: yesClinics and Practice, 2012
Primary Renal Sarcoma is rare tumor comprising only 1% of all renal tumours. Synovial sarcomas are generally deep-seated tumors arising in the proximity of large joints of adolescents and young adults and account for 5-10% of all soft tissue tumours. Primary synovial sarcoma of kidney is rare and has poor prognosis.
