Evaluating quality of life in frailty: applicability and clinimetric properties of the SarQoL® questionnaire. [PDF]
Abstract Background The SarQoL® questionnaire was specifically designed to measure quality of life (QoL) in sarcopenia. Frailty and sarcopenia have areas of overlap, notably weak muscle strength and slow gait speed, which may mean that the SarQoL could provide a measure of QoL in frailty.

Gender differences in risk factors for the 2 year development of sarcopenia in community-dwelling older adults. [PDF]
Abstract Background Sarcopenia is an age‐related chronic condition that can lead to mobility disabilities. This study aimed to evaluate the risk factors for incident sarcopenia in older Korean adults. Methods The Korean Frailty and Aging Cohort Study (KFACS) is a multicentre prospective study with a baseline examination in 2016–2017.

Frailty trajectories in community‐dwelling older adults during COVID‐19 pandemic: The PRESTIGE study
Abstract Background Frailty has been recognized as potential surrogate of biological age and relevant risk factor for COVID‐19 severity. Thus, it is important to explore the frailty trajectories during COVID‐19 pandemic and understand how COVID‐19 directly and indirectly impacts on frailty condition.

Osteosarcopenia in Chronic Kidney Disease: An Overlooked Syndrome? [PDF]
ABSTRACT Background Healthy ageing relies on maintaining physiological systems, particularly the musculoskeletal system (MKS). After 50, declines in bone density, muscle mass and strength increase the risk of osteoporosis and sarcopenia, leading to frailty, fractures and higher healthcare costs.

Overall mortality for community-dwelling adults over 50 years at risk of malnutrition. [PDF]
Abstract Background It is well reported that malnutrition in acute care is associated with poorer health outcomes including increased mortality. However, the consequences of malnutrition on survival in community settings is uncertain. Malnutrition in people 65 years or over is often cited.

Osteosarcopenia: epidemiology, diagnosis, and treatment—facts and numbers
Abstract Background Osteosarcopenia, the presence of osteopenia/osteoporosis and sarcopenia, is an emerging geriatric giant, which poses a serious global health burden. Methods and results The prevalence of osteosarcopenia ranges in community‐dwelling older adults [5–37% (≥65 years)] with the highest rates observed in those with fractures (low‐trauma ...

Our results provide clear evidence that floral interventions in the form of intercropping and border cropping can enhance pollinator communities and services they provide in tropical smallholder systems. These findings underpin a practical management option for farmers to enhance flower visitor communities and pollination services, which can ...
