Stock assessment of round sardinella (Sardinella aurita) caught along the coast of Senegal [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The LBB and CMSY/BMS methods were used to evaluate the state of the stock of round sardinella (Sardinella aurita) based on national data from the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of Senegal. However, this migratory stock is shared between Morocco, Mauritania, Senegal, and The Gambia.

Age and growth of round sardinella (Sardinella aurita) in the northeastern Mediterranean

open access: yesScientia Marina, 2005
The round sardinella, Sardinella aurita Valenciennes, 1847, was sampled monthly from commercial purse-seine vessels in Kavala Gulf (northern Aegean Sea, Greece) for two complete year cycles (September 2000-August 2002).

On the Epidemiology of Xenoma-Forming Microsporidia in Wild Caught Fish from Macaronesia (FAO34) [PDF]

open access: yesVeterinary Sciences
Microsporidia are a group of obligate intracellular parasites with a broad host range. These parasites can cause mild to severe harm to their hosts, making them important targets for research. However, studies on common wild-caught fish from the Atlantic

Reproductive Biology of Round Sardinella (Sardinella Aurita) (Valenciennes, 1847) in Senegalese Coastal Waters

open access: yesJournal of Biology and Life Science, 2018
In this study, a total of 1068 specimens Sardinella aurita of which 553 females and 515 males were examined. The objectif of this study was to determine the reproductive parameters of Sardinella aurita. The sex ratio was significantly in favor of females (55%). The size at first sexual maturity was estimated at 18.9 cm for females and 18.0 cm for males.

Variability of key biological parameters of round sardinella Sardinella aurita and the effects of environmental changes [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Fish Biology, 2019
We examined growth rates and reproductive characteristics of Sardinella aurita off Senegal and other coastal areas over a 20 year period (1995–2014) to determine how they relate to variations in environmental characteristics of coastal waters. Based on fish length‐frequency data and a coastal upwelling index, we found that S.

Oogenesis and spermatogenesis in round sardinella (Sardinella aurita Valenciennes, 1847) from the eastern part of the Adriatic Sea [PDF]

open access: yesPeriodicum Biologorum, 2022
Background and purpose: Small pelagic fish species round sardinella (Sardinella aurita) has expanded its habitat during the last few decades towards colder parts of the Mediterranean Sea. In the Adriatic Sea, this investigation is the first attempt to study its gonad development histologically.Materials and methods: S.

The Role of Dietary Fatty Acids in Modulating Blue Crab (Callinectes sapidus) Physiology, Reproduction, and Quality Traits in Captivity [PDF]

open access: yesAnimals
The invasive blue crab is challenging the Mediterranean basin, progressively declining local populations. This reflects a lower prey availability and suitability of dietary nutrients (mainly n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids, PUFA). The present study aimed
