Provocative Vocatives: Slurs as Expressives

open access: yesPhilosophical Perspectives, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Fifty years ago, Zwicky demonstrated the slur‐neutral counterpart vocative divergence thesis (SNCVD):Slurs occur freely as vocatives. Neutral counterparts do not. Systematic Analysis of the Effect of Genomic Knock‐Out of Non‐Essential Promiscuous HAD‐Like Phosphatases YcsE, YitU and YwtE on Flavin and Adenylate Content in Bacillus Subtilis

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 25, Issue 12, June 17, 2024.
Three HAD‐like phosphatases – YcsE, YwtE and YitU – that catalyze dephosphorylation of one of the riboflavin biosynthesis intermediates are knocked out singly or in combinations inB. subtilis using CRISPR‐Cas9 genome editing technology. The influence of the knockouts on bacterial fitness as well as on flavin and adenylate intracellular concentration is
