Engineering Approaches to Modify Immunomodulatory Functions of Mesenchymal Stromal Cells (MSCs): Tissue Regeneration and Clinical Application

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) show promise for treating immune‐related disorders through immunomodulation and tissue regeneration. This review gives a brief overview of current clinical approval of MSC therapies. It also discussed how bioengineering, including genetic modification, biomaterial delivery, extracellular vesicles, and iPSC‐derived MSCs,

mGluR5 in ECCCK to BLA Circuit Modulates Depressive‐Like Phenotypes through CCK Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of mGluR5 and CCK signaling contributes to major depressive disorder, yet circuit‐level mechanisms remain unclear. Here, the ECCCK→BLA pathway is identified as a critical regulator of affective behavior. mGluR5 modulates synaptic function and CCK signaling within this circuit, controlling stress susceptibility and depressive‐like states ...

Predicción de la inmunogenicidad de la proteína del SARS-CoV-2 responsable de la infección COVID-19 en humanos

open access: yesRevista Electrónica Dr. Zoilo E. Marinello Vidaurreta, 2020
Fundamento: las características estructurales y funcionales de la glicoproteína S del virus SARS-CoV-2 la convierten en un antígeno relevante y una diana deseable para el desarrollo de vacunas y fármacos, pues su bloqueo o neutralización impediría el ...

Patterns of sex worker-client contacts and their implications for the persistence of sexually transmitted infections.

open access: yes, 2005
Sex workers (SWs) and their clients are often identified as being central in transmission of sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Little is known about how patterns of contact between SWs and their clients influence the persistence of STIs.

Developing a realistic sexual network model of chlamydia transmission in Britain. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
BACKGROUND: A national chlamydia screening programme is currently being rolled out in the UK and other countries. However, much of the epidemiology remains poorly understood. In this paper we present a stochastic, individual based, dynamic sexual network

Palmitic Acid Promotes Antiviral Innate Immunity via ZDHHC20‐Mediated CMPK2 Palmitoylation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Metabolites have important functions in innate immune activation and regulation. Wang et al. uncover metabolic regulation of antiviral immunity through CMPK2 palmitoylation, which regulates CMPK2 mitochondrial localization and is promoted by ZDHHC20 but reversed by PPT1, inhibition of which antagonizes viral infection in mice.

Phylogenetic analysis of the human receptor of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus and its implications for the biology of infection

open access: yesRevista Electrónica Dr. Zoilo E. Marinello Vidaurreta, 2020
Background: angiotensin converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) is the receptor used by SARS-CoV-2 to infect human cells and produce infection in humans. Objective: to compare the sequence of the receptor with those of other animal species, in order to extract useful ...
