Experimental Satellite Quantum Communications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Quantum Communications on planetary scale require complementary channels including ground and satellite links. The former have progressed up to commercial stage using fiber-cables, while for satellite links, the absence of terminals in orbit has impaired

SATELLITE CELL OF SKELETAL MUSCLE FIBERS

open access: yesThe Journal of Biophysical and Biochemical Cytology, 1961
In the course of an electron microscopic study of the peripheral region of the skeletal muscle fiber of the frog, the presence of certain cells, intimately associated with the muscle fiber, have been observed which we have chosen to call satellite cells.

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor of jejunum in a child

open access: yesJournal of Pediatric Surgery Case Reports, 2019
Myofibroblastic tumor is one of the rare solid tumors occurring in children. It is mesenchymal in origin composed of myofibroblastic spindle cells admixed with lymphocytes, plasma cells, and eosinophills.

What determines satellite galaxy disruption?

open access: yes, 2010
In hierarchical structure formation, dark matter halos that merge with larger halos can persist as subhalos. These subhalos are likely hosts of visible galaxies.

Overview of molecular signatures of senescence and associated resources: pros and cons

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cells can enter a stress response state termed cellular senescence that is involved in various diseases and aging. Detecting these cells is challenging due to the lack of universal biomarkers. This review presents the current state of senescence identification, from biomarkers to molecular signatures, compares tools and approaches, and highlights ...

C2α‐carbanion‐protonating glutamate discloses tradeoffs between substrate accommodation and reaction rate in actinobacterial 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Enzymes of the 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase group catalyze the condensation of formyl‐CoA with aldehydes or ketones. Thus, by structural adaptation of active sites, practically any pharmaceutically and industrially important 2‐hydroxyacid could be biotechnologically synthesized. Combining crystal structure analysis, active site mutations and kinetic assays,

Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) [PDF]

open access: yesAstronomical Telescopes and Instrumentation, 2014
The Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS ) will search for planets transiting bright and nearby stars. TESS has been selected by NASA for launch in 2017 as an Astrophysics Explorer mission. The spacecraft will be placed into a highly elliptical 13.
