Antenna systems are a key element in all satellite communication systems, and improvements in performance over the past 20 years have contributed to the increased efficiency of modern systems. Satellite antenna capability is still continuing to evolve, making this an exciting and promising field for the 1990s and beyond.

The PICPOT satellite antenna systems
2007 IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium, 2007This communication deals with the design and development of the antenna systems, for the Spacecraft and for the Ground Station, of the PICPOT satellite [1], a pico-satellite developed at Politecnico di Torino mainly as a students project [2]. The redundancy of the project requires a double link in the lower UHF and at S band.

Satellite Antenna Measurements
2007 2nd International ITG Conference on Antennas, 2007Compact Ranges represent a standard in fast and real-time antenna, RCS and payload measurements. For (communication) satellite antenna testing, besides near-field test facilities, the compensated compact range (CCR) of EADS Astrium was identified as preferred and highly accurate test facility by worldwide leading satellite manufacturers.

Antennas for satellite systems
Proceedings of MELECON '94. Mediterranean Electrotechnical Conference, 2002This paper describes satellite antenna research in Europe but of necessity has to be selective as there are at least 50 primary organisations directly involved in the field. The research and development programmes and the manufacture of satellite systems in Europe is supported by, among others, The European Space agency (ESA), EUTELSAT, INTELSAT ...

Communication satellite antennas
Proceedings of the IEEE, 1977During the previous two decades, communication satellites have developed from the pioneering Telstar to the highly sophisticated ATS-6. Concurrrently, the spacecraft antennas have developed from a low-gain "omnidirectional" antenna to the multifrequency multifunction antenna farm on ATS-6.
