Helical antenna for satellite transmission†

International Journal of Electronics, 1973
Abstract The use of helical antennas for satellite transmission is proposed. The polar diagram, directivity and polarization characteristics are outlined. The advantages of circularly and elliptically polarized waves transmitted from the helical antenna for Faraday rotation experiments are discussed.

Measurement of satellite communication parameters: satellite antenna measurements

IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 1988
The in-orbit testing of a communication satellite involves the measurements of key communication parameters, which determine communication subsystem behavior and verify the design. Some of the tests, specifically those involving the satellite's antennas, are unique in that they require satellite antenna motion in both azimuth and elevation.

A satellite data transmission antenna

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 1964
A retrodirective satellite antenna for a broad bandwidth, satellite-to-ground data transmission link, is described. An information-collecting satellite which transmits its data in the direction of the ground receiver upon command, is considered. The satellite antenna described for this system is an active retrodirective antenna which utilizes the beam ...

Ground-based antennas for satellite communications

Communications Satellite Systems Conference, 1966
Abstract Data-gathering and communications systems using satellites today depend upon antennas as the essential input coupling device. The quality and quantity of data and messages are direct functions of antenna size and precision, which determine the gain.

Vehicular antennas for satellite communications

2011 VIII International Conference on Antenna Theory and Techniques, 2011
Antennas mounted at vehicles for satellite communications and direct broadcasting service are considered in the paper. The antennas have scanning beams with high gain as well as satellite tracking capabilities. Such antenna provides a wideband communication link via a satellite while a vehicle is in motion.

Mobile Satellite Antenna Systems

2016
In the beginning of radio development, mobile communication systems were conceived for the transmission and receiving of telegraphy and telephony signals via antenna from ships, cars, trains, and aircraft. The consideration of antenna transmission is inevitable, especially in Global Mobile Satellite Communications (GMSC) applications, where their ...

Antenna pattern measurement by satellite

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 1963
The satellite 1959 IOTA (Explorer VII) which emitted a signal on 19.991 Mc was used to measure the radiation pattern of a large multiple-beam antenna array (ISCAN) when it passed over the array. The experience gained in the improvised tests is projected into future, well-instrumented pattern measurements by means of a satellite designed for this ...
