A Novel Constellation of Satellites
2006 2nd International Conference on Information & Communication Technologies, 2006A novel constellation of low earth equatorial orbit (LEQ) satellites is proposed to provide continuous coverage for countries with maximum latitude limit of plusmn25deg. Analysis and computer simulation results show that for such coverage with a minimum elevation angle of 10deg, a maximum number of 16 LEQ satellites is required.

Satellite constellations in the ascendant
IEE Review, 1998Geostationary orbit has been a home to communications satellites for more than 30 years. In this paper, the author investigates how, with the advent of the satellite mobile phone, they are now taking up residence in low Earth orbit.

Hybrid Configurations for Satellite Constellations
1998Orbital configuration design for satellite constellations is currently based on strongly regular models, as they make easier the coverage analysis. This paper deals with the widening of these symmetry constraints, leading to the so-called hybrid configurations.

MPLS-Based Satellite Constellation Networks
IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, 2004Nongeostationary satellite constellations with intersatellite links are a challenge for networking due to their continuously changing topology. In order to make maximal use of the network's capacities, special attention has to be paid to routing and traffic engineering.

An MPLS networking concept for satellite constellations
2003MPLS has been designed for IP backbone networks and offers many possibilities to exert influence on traffic flows. Therefore it is an attractive candidate for use in broadband non-geostationary satellite constellations with their continuously changing topologies.
