Review of near-shore satellite derived bathymetry: Classification and account of five decades of coastal bathymetry research

open access: yesJournal of Ocean Engineering and Science, 2021
The number of civilian, commercial and military applications are dependant on accurate knowledge of bathymetry of coastal regions. Conventionally, hydrographic surveying methods are used for bathymetric surveys carried by ship-based acoustic systems, but

Satellite-Derived Bathymetry Mapping on Horseshoe Island, Antarctic Peninsula, with Open-Source Satellite Images: Evaluation of Atmospheric Correction Methods and Empirical Models

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2023
Satellite-derived bathymetry (SDB) is the process of estimating water depth in shallow coastal and inland waters using satellite imagery. Recent advances in technology and data processing have led to improvements in the accuracy and availability of SDB ...

Satellite derived photogrammetric bathymetry

ISPRS Journal of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, 2018
Abstract Satellite Derived Bathymetry (SDB) is being adopted as a cheaper and more spatially extensive method for bathymetric mapping than traditional acoustic surveys, with research being conducted by the Canadian Hydrographic Service under a Government Related Initiatives Program (GRIP) of the Canadian Space Agency.

Hyperspectral Satellite-Derived Bathymetry Considering Substrate Characteristics

Marine Geodesy
In optically shallow waters, the spectral characteristics of the substrate contribute to the water’s reflected signal, influencing satellite-derived bathymetry (SDB).

Satellite-derived bathymetry

Hydrographische Nachrichten, 2022

Satellite-derived bathymetry in practice

Hydrographische Nachrichten, 2020
Multibeam bathymetry surveying is a well-established method but limited to water depths accessible by vessels or small boats. Airborne LiDAR bathymetry (ALB) systems can cover this gap by surveying both the coastal topography and the shallower water regions.

Likelihood Ratio Statistic for Inferring the Uncertainty of Satellite Derived Bathymetry

2021 11th Workshop on Hyperspectral Imaging and Signal Processing: Evolution in Remote Sensing (WHISPERS), 2021
We consider the study of performing likelihood-based inference in Lee's radiative transfer semi-analytical model. This model is widely used for the inversion of bathymetric products in coastal areas. We perform assessment of uncertainty on retrieved bathymetry in terms of hypothesis testing.
