Methods and geophysical applications of satellite geodesy [PDF]
Satellite tracking methods, geodetic procedures and results are described with the emphasis placed on the geophysical significance of the results. The discussion is limited mainly to the solid Earth. The use of the satellite techniques for the Moon and planets is also discussed, again with the emphasis placed on the geophysical consequences of these ...

Ocean tides for satellite geodesy
Marine Geodesy, 1990Spherical harmonic tidal solutions have been obtained at the frequencies of the 32 largest luni-solar tides using prior theory of the author. That theory was developed for turbulent, nonglobal, self-gravitating, and loading oceans possessing realistic bathymetry and linearized bottom friction; the oceans satisfy no-flow boundary conditions at ...

Unexpected far-field deformation of the 2023 Kahramanmaraş earthquakes revealed by space geodesy
ScienceThe spatiotemporal pattern of surface displacements from large earthquakes provides crucial insights about the deformation of Earth’s crust at various scales and the interactions among tectonic plates.

Local geodesy by satellite laser ranging: a European solution
manuscripta geodaetica, 1995Errors in the modelling the satellite orbit have so far limited the accuracy in the processing of Satellite Laser Ranging (SLR) data. A new method is proposed to achieve a residual size consistent with the observational errors, and a stability of the geodetic network coordinates at the same level.

Geoid float techniques in satellite geodesy
Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London. Series A, Mathematical and Physical Sciences, 1980This approach to reconciling satellite-derived positions of ground stations with terrestrial geodetic data avoids uncritical acceptance of existing astro-geodetic or other geoidal separation information but rather allows such a geoid to 'float’ up and down freely to find its own best position.
