Beyond Directions: Symmetry‐Aware Rotation Sets for Triaxial Diffusion Encoding by Geometric Filter Optimization

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose To improve the accuracy of diffusion‐weighted powder average signals for diffusion encoding with arbitrary b‐tensors. Methods We identify an intrinsic dihedral (D2$$ {D}_2 $$) symmetry of diffusion signals for arbitrary diffusion encoding, which defines their natural signal space (a quotient of 3D rotations).

Seafloor crustal deformation data along the subduction zones around Japan obtained by GNSS-A observations

open access: yesScientific Data, 2018
Crustal deformation data obtained by geodetic observation networks are foundations in the fields of geodesy and seismology. These data are essential for understanding plate motion and earthquake sources and for simulating earthquake and tsunami scenarios.

Main‐chain polyfullerenes: Taking fullerene to the next dimension

open access: yesPolymer International, EarlyView.
This short review appraises main‐chain polyfullerenes. Their slow development over 30 years has suddenly boomed with a rapid growth due to exciting developments in solar energy. Abstract This mini‐review gives an overview of the development, chemistry, properties and applications of main‐chain polyfullerenes.

Quantifying the Surface Deformation of Pingos on the Alaskan North Slope Using Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR)

open access: yesPermafrost and Periglacial Processes, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Pingos are large mounds with cores formed of intrusive ice that form in periglacial landscapes. These ice structures can form in regions of discontinuous permafrost, commonly as hydraulic or open‐system pingos, or in locations of continuous permafrost, commonly as hydrostatic or closed‐system pingos.

Comparison and Accuracy Estimation of Modern Models of the Earth’s Gravitational Potential [PDF]

open access: yesУчёные записки Казанского университета: Серия Естественные науки, 2016
The paper presents a brief overview of new models of the Earth’s gravitational potential constructed based on satellite-to-satellite tracking, satellite gradiometry, satellite altimetry, as well as ground gravimetric and satellite laser ranging. Inherent

Satellite geodesy: Interpretation

open access: yesEos, Transactions American Geophysical Union, 1971
This report outlines the activity during the past 4 years in the area of interpreting geodetic data derived through procedures of satellite geodesy. No attempt has been made to synthesize the ideas of the various investigators; the report simply points out where the activity lies and briefly what it is.The procedures of dynamic satellite geodesy ...

Sliding Mode Control in Aerospace Applications: A Survey

open access: yesInternational Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Sliding mode control (SMC) enjoys robustness to matched and unmatched (in the case of minimum phase input‐output dynamics) bounded perturbations, and finite time convergence. Second‐order and higher‐order sliding mode control systems (2‐SMC/HOSMC) retain all the advantages of sliding mode control, but in addition can be applied to systems of ...

Climate Crisis, Human Mobility and Security Challenges in the MENA Region: Implications for Sustainable Development and Regional Stability

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study examines the interplay between climate change, violent conflict and forced migration in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), focusing on asylum flows to the European Union (EU). By integrating high‐resolution climate, conflict and socioeconomic data spanning 2000 to 2023, we develop a comprehensive empirical framework to ...

Satellite geodesy on the lawn

open access: yesEos, Transactions American Geophysical Union, 1987
During the 1986 AGU Fall Meeting in December, four Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers were demonstrated in a simulated field condition. Although billed as a “shootout,” constraints of time and location dictated that this demonstration would not be a valid test of the receivers, and in retrospect, it should not be viewed as such.
