Analysis of POGS Satellite Magnetic Data
Exploration Geophysics, 1993Results of a preliminary analysis of POGS satellite magnetic data to degree and order 10 are given, assuming a field of internal origin only. POGS data were made available in 19 files, each containing approximately ten days of observations made every ten seconds.

Interpretation of satellite elevation magnetic anomalies
Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, 1986The magnetic field satellite Magsat obtained total field data over almost the whole of the earth. We have studied these data in two different ways. The first way was to use spherical harmonic coefficients. It is often believed that these coefficients can be separated into those originating within the core of the earth and those from the crust at about ...

Magnetic attitude control for synchronous satellites
IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 1968Techniques using active magnetic coils have been studied for the attitude control of long-life vehicles in synchronous equatorial orbits, Analysis and computer simulation were followed by laboratory tests to investigate various control laws and methods of damping.

Possible Fossil Lunar Magnetism Inferred from Satellite Data
Science, 1971Magnetization of selected nonmare areas, principally on the moon's far side, is inferred from positive disturbances in the magnitude of the magnetic field exterior to the magnetic signature of the lunar cavity observed in magnetometer data from the lunar orbiter Explorer 35.

Magnetic Petrology Database for Interpretation Satellite Magnetic Anomalies
2005A Global Magnetic Petrology Database (MPDB) is now being compiled at NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center and consists of many thousands of records. The prototype database is located at http://core2.gsfc.nasa.gov/research/terr_mag/php/MPDB/frames.html.

Magnetic attitude actuation for passive satellites
IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1966The orientation of a passive communications satellite with respect to the earth can be adjusted by using an electromagnetic actuator which is rigidly mounted on the structure of the satellite. The actuator consists of three mutually-orthogonal air-cored coils on the skin of the satellite.

Satellite Magnetic Map and Tectonic Correlation
Journal Geological Society of India, 1986Abstract The satellite magnetic data (MAGSAT) over India is analysed with reference to the major tectonic elements of the country. The recorded magnetic anomaly varies from +6 gamma over the eastern part of the Indian shield to -9 gamma over the Himalayas. Deccan Trap is characterized by 'nosing' of the magnetic contours.

Magnetic Attitude Control System for Dual-Spin Satellites
AIAA Journal, 1975A closed-loop control law is developed for a dual-spin satellite control system which utilizes the interaction of the geomagnetic field with the satellite dipole parallel to the spin axis. The control law consists of the linear combination of the pitch axis component of the rate of change of the geomagnetic field and the product of the roll angle and ...
