Satellite Telemetry: Performance of Animal-Tracking Systems
The Journal of Wildlife Management, 1991We used 10 Telonics ST-3 platform transmitter terminals (PTT's) configured for wolves and ungulates to examine the performance of the Argos satellite telemetry system. Under near-optimal conditions, 68 percentile errors for location qualities (NQ) 1, 2, and 3 were 1,188 903, and 361 m, respectively. Errors (r E ) exceeded expected values for NQ=2 and 3,

A simple meteorological buoy with satellite telemetry
Ocean Engineering, 1983Abstract A small, inexpensive, and easily deployable meteorological buoy is described. Buoy motion is greatly reduced by appropriate ballast techniques; vector averaging further removes buoy motion effects from wind data. Data is transmitted to the GOES satellite and is retrieved by telephone.

Marbled Godwit migration characterized with satellite telemetry
The Condor, 2014ABSTRACT Marbled Godwits (Limosa fedoa) breed in 3 disparate areas: The majority breed in the prairies of midcontinental North America, but there are also 2 small and widely separated tundra-breeding populations, 1 in eastern Canada and 1 on the Alaska Peninsula, USA. The major winter ranges include the Atlantic, Pacific, and Gulf coasts of the USA and

A Design of Satellite Telemetry Acquisition System
2020With the development of space technology, the functions of satellites are becoming more and more powerful. The number of intra-satellite telemetry and the requirement of possible inter-satellite telemetry transmission increase the complexity of telemetry acquisition and scheduling. The traditional acquisition mode and PCM telemetry format can no longer

Satellite telemetry of fumarole temperatures, Mount Rainier, Washington
Bulletin Volcanologique, 1972Temperatures of three fumaroles on the west summit crater of Mount Rainier, Washington, were monitored over a 5-week period by satellite telemetry. Upon interrogation by the Nimbus 4 satellite, the temperature transducer voltages were converted to digital signals and transmitted to the satellite.

Amateur satellite telemetry: past, present and future
[Proceedings] NTC-92: National Telesystems Conference, 2003The author examines the telemetry from the existing amateur satellites, discusses telemetry from a systems perspective, and looks at requirements for all parts of the system including spacecraft builders, telemetry users, and ground station software developers.

A robust satellite telemetry system for IMOS moorings
OCEANS'10 IEEE SYDNEY, 2010An iridium based telemetry system has been developed and successfully deployed both in the Southern Ocean and for over a year at a coastal station. The major technological development for the system was the encasement of the antennas into a sealed unit with transmission achieved through a thick Delrin® lid.

Compact Ka-band telemetry antenna for satellite applications
2012 15 International Symposium on Antenna Technology and Applied Electromagnetics, 2012This paper presents an alternative design for a payload telemetry data subsystem (PTDS) antenna working in ka-band. Our main driver for this antenna design, was to propose a compact concept with no move of the feed during the connection with the ground station. All the steps of the design are described, and the main results are presented (including the

Doppler Satellite Positioning, Telemetry and Data Systems
2015Before we consider the GPS system and its international equivalents, there are still two operational satellite systems that rely on the Doppler technique originally developed for Transit. These are the Argos environmental data system and the Cospas-Sarsat satellite search and rescue system.
