Video Signals Demodulator for Satellite Communication

2013
This paper proposes a VLSI architecture to design a QPSK demodulator of video signals for satellite communication using baseband processing. The demodulator mainly consists of a multiplier, a root-raised cosine (RRC) filter designed using distributed arithmetic (DA) technique, and an adder to add I-channel and Q-channel signals.

Video from earth orbiting satellites (for oceanographers)

OCEANS 2015 - MTS/IEEE Washington, 2015
This paper reviews video capabilities from Earth orbiting satellites and applications to ocean remote sensing. Videos for purpose of this paper are sequences of images on a fixed location with frame rates in the range of 0.1 to 30 Hz. The number of video capable satellites is increasing.

3D stereo reconstruction: high resolution satellite video

Image and Signal Processing for Remote Sensing XXV, 2019
Precise high-resolution Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) are essential for creation of terrain relief and associated terrain hazard area maps, urban land development, smart cities and in other applications. The 3D modelling system entitled the UCL Co-registration Ames Stereo Pipeline (ASP) Gotcha Optimised (CASP-GO) was demonstrated on stereo data of ...

Video image transmission via mobile satellite channels

Proceedings IEEE International Conference on Communications ICC '95, 2002
This paper deals with transmitting CCITT H.261 standard compressed moving-images (64 kbits/sec) through shadowed mobile satellite channels. Concatenated codes consisting of 8PSK trellis inner codes and Reed-Solomon (or BCH) outer codes are used to achieve large coding gains with small bandwidth expansion in the presence of frequency-nonselective slow ...

Video image transmission over mobile satellite channels

Signal Processing: Image Communication, 2001
Abstract This paper addresses the transmission of low bit-rate video image sequences through mobile satellite channels to provide portable communications services to remote areas. The particularly challenging aspects of this transmission channel include (1) rapid fading and log-normal shadowing, (2) low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) due to the noise ...

Digital video broadcasting by satellite

1999
This Chapter reviews low-bit-rate digital transmission of television signals on satellites and placed it in a context of existing and developing television standards and a changing regulatory environment. Some of the systems aspects have been discussed and particular details of practical satellite systems already available commercially have been given.

Practical satellite news gathering using compressed video

International Broadcasting Conference IBC '95, 1995
The commercial introduction of practical video compression equipment has enabled operational digital satellite news gathering (DSNG) to develop with a number of advantages over analogue methods. These include space segment cost savings as well as a reduction in the size and bulk of a typical system.

Video steganography using encrypted payload for satellite communication

2017 IEEE Aerospace Conference, 2017
In November 2014, a massive cyber-attack on a major company leaked sensitive data including thousands of personal records. Despite the fact that a lot of research and development has gone in the past decade to develop robust encryption algorithms, hackers have managed to break them.

Real-time packet video over satellite channels

ACM SIGCOMM Computer Communication Review, 1983
The paper describes major issues and problems in the use of packet satellite channels for real-time video images and suggests some solutions. The DARPA Wide Band Communication Network provides the testbed for this activity. The main idea in this paper is the automatic online tradeoff between the quality and the dynamics of the communicated ...
