The core of an economy with satiation
Economic Theory, 2005It has long been known that in economies with satiation, the set of competitive equilibria does not coincide with the limiting core of an economy. In dividend equilibria, introduced independently by a number of authors, the budget excess is allowed to be divided among consumers as dividends and equilibrium existence is restored.

Cholecystokinin and satiation with alcohol
Alcohol, 1989Release of the brain-gut peptide cholecystokinin (CCK) is stimulated by intragastric instillation of ethanol, and peripheral administration of CCK inhibits ethanol consumption. To assess the temporal specificity of the inhibitory effect of CCK on alcohol intake, water-deprived rats were given 5% ethanol at 20, 10 or 0 min after intraperitoneal ...

The Effect of Soup on Satiation
Appetite, 1998We compared the influence of three solid/liquid preloads to a no-preload condition given at lunchtime on hunger ratings and energy intake of the lunch and subsequent dinner in 12 lean and 10 overweight young men. The preloads (vegetables and water, strained vegetable soup, chunky soup) were of the same composition and volume but differed in ...

Abstract Ingestive behaviour may be described by plotting the cumulative intake against time (the satiation curve). It is demonstrated that for a laboratory rat feeding in a Skinner box the most satisfactory description of this curve is a negative exponential with three parameters. The time constant is relatively consistent for a single individual on

The satiating efficiency of foods
Physiology & Behavior, 1984Experiments were undertaken to test the general hypothesis that some foods are more satiating than others, to find a mechanism for their differential satiating efficiencies, and to determine whether certain soups had a high enough satiating efficiency to recommend their addition to a meal as a way of reducing total caloric intake of that meal.

Palatability Affects Satiation But Not Satiety
Physiology & Behavior, 1999The present study was designed to investigate the effect of the pleasantness of a food on satiation (meal termination) and satiety. It was also studied whether or not the subsequent availability of other attractive foods affected the effect of palatability on intake. In a within-subjects repeated-measures design, 35 (26 female and 9 male) young healthy

Abstract Instances of ‘resistance to satiation’ are described, in which instrumental behaviour continues in the absence of the consummatory response towards which it was originally directed. These findings illustrate, along with other data, that consummatory and instrumental activities are not determined by a single intervening ‘drive’ variable.

Economics Letters, 1986
Abstract This letter develops a general model of rational habit formation. The conditions leading to addiction and satiation are compared, and Stigler and Becker's (1977) discussion of beneficial and harmful addiction is clarified and extended.

From satisfaction to satiation: the gradation model of satiation in casual leisure
Annals of Leisure Research, 2018Excessive participation in casual leisure activities often leads to satiation, which leaves people no pleasure. Prior research did not consider the gradation effects on the accumulation of satiation. This study proposed a theoretical model to illuminate the changing process of satiation.
