Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

A note on the Monte Carlo assessment of Impulse Saturation with fat tailed distribution [PDF]

open access: yes
Monte Carlo evidence is provided as to the efficiency of the impulse saturation estimator in a location-scale model with heavy-tailed distributions. Comparisons show that the IS estimator is always more efficient than the OLS and can even outperform the ...

The saturation equation - an analytical expression for partial saturation during wicking flow in paper microfluidic channels

open access: yes
The design and fabrication of paper based microfluidic devices is critically dependent on modelling fluid flow through porous paper membranes. A commonly observed phenomenon is partial saturation, i.e., regions of the paper membrane not being filled ...

The use of two novel techniques in the coagulopathic trauma patient in intensive care [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Severe Trauma is a multisystem disorder with a high mortality in an often young population. It offers a big challenge to the intensivist, and any help that is available might prove decisive in saving the patient’s life.

Saturation impulses for dynamically loaded structures with finite-deflections

open access: yes, 1995
The concept of ''Saturation Impulse'' for rigid, perfectly plastic structures with finite-deflections subjected to dynamic loading was put forward by Zhao, Yu and Fang (1994a).

The saturation number of C6

open access: yesDiscrete Mathematics
A graph $G$ is called $C_k$-saturated if $G$ is $C_k$-free but $G+e$ not for any $e\in E(\overline{G})$. The saturation number of $C_k$, denoted $sat(n,C_k)$, is the minimum number of edges in a $C_k$-saturated graph on $n$ vertices. Finding the exact values of $sat(n,C_k)$ has been one of the most intriguing open problems in extremal graph theory.

Soil carbon saturation : concept, evidence and evaluation

open access: yes, 2007
Current estimates of soil C storage potential are based on models or factors that assume linearity between C input levels and C stocks at steady-state, implying that SOC stocks could increase without limit as C input levels increase.
