Outlier Detection in Structural Time Series Models: The Indicator Saturation Approach [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2014
Abstract Structural change affects the estimation of economic signals, such as the growth rate or the seasonally adjusted series. One important issue that has attracted a great deal of attention in the seasonal adjustment literature is its detection by an expert procedure.

Influence of dense macrophyte vegetation and total gas saturation on the performance of acoustic telemetry

open access: yesAnimal Biotelemetry, 2022
Background Acoustic telemetry is widely used as a method for high resolution monitoring of aquatic animal movement to investigate relationships between individual animals and their environment.

Using Description Logics for Recognising Textual Entailment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The aim of this paper is to show how we can handle the Recognising Textual Entailment (RTE) task by using Description Logics (DLs). To do this, we propose a representation of natural language semantics in DLs inspired by existing representations in first-

On the Analysis of Saturated Pressure to Detect Fatigue

open access: yes, 2023
This paper examines the saturation of pressure signals during various handwriting tasks, including drawings, cursive text, capital words text, and signature, under different levels of fatigue. Experimental results demonstrate a significant rise in the proportion of saturated samples following strenuous exercise in tasks performed without resting wrist.

Correcting for accidental correlations in saturated avalanche photodiodes

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper we present a general method for estimating rates of accidental coincidence between a pair of single photon detectors operated within their saturation regimes.

Towards saturation attack detection in SDN: a multi-edge representation learning-based method

open access: yesJournal of King Saud University: Computer and Information Sciences
Saturation attack detection in Software-Defined Networking (SDN) focuses on identifying and mitigating flow table overflow attacks on switches and overload attacks on the SDN controller.

A New Human Perception-Based Over-Exposure Detection Method for Color Images

open access: yesSensors, 2014
To correct an over-exposure within an image, the over-exposed region (OER) must first be detected. Detecting the OER accurately has a significant effect on the performance of the over-exposure correction.

Resolution of the mystery of counter-intuitive photon correlations in far off-resonance emission from a quantum dot-cavity system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Cavity quantum-electrodynamics experiments using an atom coupled to a single radiation-field mode have played a central role in testing foundations of quantum mechanics, thus motivating solid-state implementations using single quantum dots coupled to ...

Nuclear and neutron-star matter from local chiral interactions

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2020
We report a quantum Monte Carlo calculation of the equation of state of symmetric nuclear matter using local interactions derived from chiral effective field theory up to next-to-next-to-leading order fit to few-body observables only.
