Head saturation in magnetic recording

Journal of Applied Physics, 1988
In this paper, we present two new head-modeling methods and discuss their use to study head-saturation effects. One is a nonlinear multiple-subdomain finite-element method, and the other augments the first by the use of a boundary-integral method to calculate the magnetic field’s density and gradient in the medium from potentials at the head-medium ...

Saturation magnetic recording process

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1971
This review of the saturation magnetic recording process is tutorial in approach. The emphasis throughout is on the development of intuitive understanding as well as the development of a first-order analysis (good to 10-20 percent) of the process. By means of treating two different functional approximations to the magnetization distribution in the ...

Estimating the In-Plane Magnetic Anisotropy and Saturation Magnetization of Magnetic Films

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 2017
The magnetic properties of various samples were investigated through vibrating sample magnetometer, electron spin resonance (ESR), and vector network analyzer ferromagnetic resonance (VNA-FMR) techniques, respectively. The corresponding saturation magnetization $4\pi M_{s}$ and in-plane magnetic anisotropy field $H_{k}$ of those different ...

Magnetic Saturation in Perpendicular Recording

IEEE Translation Journal on Magnetics in Japan, 1987
Results of investigations involving calculations using the finite element method and experiments to determine the magnetic saturation during writing for both closed-circuit configuration single-sided heads and open-circuit configuration separated type heads are reported. The single-sided head reaches the same magnetic flux density as the separated-type

Bending of A Magnetically Saturated Plate with A Crack in A Uniform Magnetic Field

International Journal of Applied Electromagnetics and Mechanics, 1990
A magneto-elastic analysis is presented for the bending problem of a magnetically saturated flat plate of finite width with a through crack under a uniform magnetic field. The Fourier transform method is used to solve the magneto-elastic problem and the result is expressed in terms of an integro-differential equation for the deflection.

Magnetization distributions and the approach to saturation

Philosophical Magazine B, 1980
Abstract A simple method is described for calculating the distribution of the magnetization in permeable specimens of rectangular shape, including states in which some or all of the cells into which the specimen is divided are saturated. The overall magnetization of a cube is calculated as an example and the approach to saturation is shown to be ...

The nonlinear saturation of a magnetic island

Plasma Physics and Controlled Fusion, 1989
The author obtains a nonlinear amplitude equation in slab geometry which describes the growth and saturation of a magnetic island. This is done by extending the earlier work of P. Rutherford (1974) to include nonlinear terms. The width of the saturated island is shown to be determined by the current profile, for a nonsymmetric profile.
