Conservation status of Erebia palarica Chapman, 1905 (Lepidoptera, Nymphalidae): Local insight and whole distribution perspective

open access: yesInsect Conservation and Diversity, Volume 18, Issue 3, Page 370-385, May 2025.
Mark‐release‐recapture data of E. palarica reveals low dispersal rates (<500 m) and small census population sizes (Nc = 303 and 565) in two localities from Serra do Courel (NW Spain). Microsatellite genotypes of four generations (1999–2021) from the population of Alto do Couto, in Serra do Courel, reveal a small effective population size (Ne < 100). E.

Pupal colour plasticity in a tropical butterfly, Mycalesis mineus (Nymphalidae: Satyrinae)

open access: yesPLOS ONE, 2017
Lepidopteran insects have provided excellent study systems for understanding adaptive phenotypic plasticity. Although there are a few well-studied examples of adult plasticity among tropical butterflies, our understanding of plasticity of larval and pupal stages is largely restricted to temperate butterflies.

Opinion and report of the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES) relating to an analysis of the health risks associated with exposure to caterpillars with stinging hairs and the development of management recommendations

open access: yesFood Risk Assess Europe, Volume 3, Issue 2, April 2025.
Abstract Several species of Lepidoptera with caterpillars bearing urticating hairs are increasing their range in metropolitan France from year to year, such as the pine processionary (Thaumetopoea pityocampa Denis et Schiffermüller 1775) whose presence was historically limited to the south of France, and which is gradually being observed in the north ...

Fostering Biodiversity in Neotropical Savannahs: Fire as a Diversity Driver for Fruit‐Feeding Butterfly Assemblages in the Cerrado

open access: yesAustral Ecology, Volume 50, Issue 3, March 2025.
The more frequently burnt areas with shorter time intervals since the last burn episode exhibited higher levels of biodiversity compared to sites where fires were less frequent and under longer intervals. ABSTRACT Fire has significantly shaped the dynamics of Brazilian Cerrado fauna and flora, but the interference of human activities and climate change

Region‐specific diversification dynamics and biogeographic history of one of the most diverse families of insects

open access: yesSystematic Entomology, Volume 50, Issue 1, Page 206-220, January 2025.
A robust time‐calibrated tree for the mega diverse Geometridae family. Historical biogeography suggest a New World origin for Geometridae, probably Neotropics. Different biogeographical and evolutionary histories are recovered in different biogeographical regions. Abstract A long‐standing question in evolutionary biology is how historical biogeographic
