SAWS

Proceedings of the 48th International Symposium on Microarchitecture, 2015
General-purpose computing on Graphics Processing Units (GPGPUs) became increasingly popular for a wide range of applications beyond traditional graphic rendering workloads. GPGPU exploits parallelism in applications via multithreading to hide memory latencies, and handles control complexity by barrier synchronizations.

SAW and pseudo-SAW properties using matrix methods

IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control, 1994
Pseudo-surface-waves (PSAW's), or leaky SAW's, were first recognized over 25 years ago and the phase velocity (v(p)) and attenuation per wavelength (alphalambda) of PSAW modes for nonpiezoelectrics were calculated soon after. Since the seventies progress has been made in exploiting the higher velocities and electromechanical coupling constants (K(2 ...

Circular saw suicide

Journal of Forensic and Legal Medicine, 2007
A case of an individual who died as a result of a self-inflicted circular saw injury to the head is presented. Death appeared to result from massive haemorrhage from injury to the superior sagittal sinus. The described mechanism of injury appears to be very unusual and may have reflected underlying issues.

Band Saw and Jig Saw

1962
There are several types of band saws made for different work. The largest is the band mill, which is used in sawmills for cutting logs into planks. This saw has wheels up to 7′ in diameter and blades up to 16″ wide. The band resaw is somewhat smaller and is used in mills and lumber yards for resawing thick lumber into thinner material.

SAWing on symmetry

Proceedings of the 1999 Congress on Evolutionary Computation-CEC99 (Cat. No. 99TH8406), 2003
In this paper we investigate the behavior of mutation-based evolutionary algorithms on highly symmetric binary constraint satisfaction problems. With empirical methods we study why and when these algorithms perform better under the stepwise adaptive weighting of penalties (SAWing) than under the standard penalty function.

Sawing

1989
Abstract Sawing is the process of cutting a workpiece with power band saws, hacksaws, and circular saws. This article discusses the process capabilities and limitations of band sawing. It provides information on band sawing machines, their fixtures and attachments, band construction and materials, blade design, and cutting fluids ...

Oscillating saw injuries

Emergency Nurse, 1998
The aim of this study was to assess the incidence of injuries to patients who have had a plaster cast removed by oscillating circular saw. The record of each patient who had his or her plaster removed was kept in the plaster room and later studied.
