Patient Perspectives on Psychiatric Polygenic Risk Scores in Reproductive Decision‐Making and Polygenic Embryo Screening

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part B: Neuropsychiatric Genetics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Polygenic risk scores (PRS) estimate individuals' genetic risk for developing multifactorial conditions. Recent genome‐wide association studies have enabled development of psychiatric PRS, which hold potential to streamline diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric conditions.

“It's Not Deterministic and It Will Never Be Deterministic”: A Qualitative Study on Stakeholder Perspectives of Polygenic Risk Score Testing for Post‐Traumatic Stress Disorder

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part B: Neuropsychiatric Genetics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Post‐traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) causes significant mental and physical distress, yet only a small subset of individuals exposed to trauma develop the disorder. Scientists and clinicians are still unable to predict who will get the disorder or how it will manifest.

Superannuation Reimagined: Moving Beyond the Origins to an Indigenous Focus

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Social Issues, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Retirement income systems, such as superannuation, are meant to be non‐discriminatory and consider disadvantage faced by members of society. There are significant differences between the life expectancies of Indigenous and non‐Indigenous peoples. The gap in life expectancies is not considered when determining when Indigenous peoples can retire.

‘I Don't Babysit’: Stay‐at‐Home Dads' Perspectives and Experiences Within Australian Society

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Social Issues, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Stay‐at‐home‐dads are an emerging group in Australia, impacted by societal assumptions and expectations. However, there is a scarcity of research on the perspectives and experiences of fathers assuming stay‐at‐home dad roles within Australian society.

National Disability Insurance Scheme and Quality of Life Among Carers of Children With Autism Spectrum Disorder in Australia: A Thematic Analysis

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Social Issues, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Diagnoses of autism spectrum disorder in Australia have increased considerably in recent years. The current study investigated how the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) impacts quality of life (QoL) among carers of children with autism spectrum disorder.

Saw sensors

Sensors and Actuators, 1989
This paper considers recent developments in surface acoustic wave sensors (SAWS) and illustrates the operating principle of both physical and chemical SAWS based on surface acoustic wave (SAW) propagation velocity variations. The SAWS that have appeared in the literature so far are qualitatively reviewed and compared with other existing sensors based ...

SAW pressure sensors

Conference Proceedings. 10th Anniversary. IMTC/94. Advanced Technologies in I & M. 1994 IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Technolgy Conference (Cat. No.94CH3424-9), 2002
The design and performance of two types of SAW pressure sensors have been considered. SAW resonator oscillators with metal strip gratings designed for operation at 200 and 360 MHz have been used in both type devices to study the opportunity of the mechanical pressure measurement became of mechanical loading on Rayleigh surface wave propagation.

SAW temperature sensor on Quartz

IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control, 2015
For biomedical applications, narrow temperature range and high sensor accuracy requirements define the need for high temperature sensitivity. Wireless SAW sensors connected to antennas need a reference element to account for changes in electromagnetic coupling between the transmitter and receiver antennas.

Modelling for SAW sensors

2014 IEEE International Conference on System Science and Engineering (ICSSE), 2014
A model is presented to predict the resonant frequency shift performance of surface acoustic wave (SAW) gas sensors. The results predicted by the proposed model have shown that the proposed model is accurate and effective.
