The life cycle carbon balance of selective logging in tropical forests of Costa Rica
Abstract The effect of logging on atmospheric carbon concentrations remains highly contested, especially in the tropics where it is associated to forest degradation. To contribute to this discussion, we estimated the carbon balance from logging natural tropical forests in Costa Rica through a life cycle accounting approach.

Color variation and correlations in Eucalyptus dunnii sawnwood
A study of material thinned from a 9-year-old Eucalyptus dunnii progeny trial revealed that E. dunnii has light yellowish wood that is relatively uniform in color, and varies little within and between trees. The variation in color between half-sib families is small, but is statistically significant (P = 0.008).

Carbon storage and CO2 dynamics from wood products harvested in Brazil during 1900–2016
How relevant is the role of CO2 from harvested wood products (HWPs) for the Brazilian GHG emission balance? The C stocks and CO2 emissions and removals from the HWPs in Brazil during 1900–2016 were evaluated using three methodological approaches: stock ...

Carbon Credits Through Wood Use: Revisiting the Maximum Potential and Sensitivity to Key Assumptions
We investigated how large and uncertain avoided fossil‐based emissions and net sequestration of carbon into the technosphere (TCCs = technosphere carbon credits) of wood use per carbon harvested are. The mean value of TCCs of wood use were between 0.2 and 0.5 tC/tC with an uncertainty range from 0.1 to 0.8 tC/tC, depending on the scenario.
