Further Resolution of the Rapid Radiation of Saxifragales (Angiosperms, Eudicots) Supported by Mixed-Model Bayesian Analysis

Systematic Botany, 2004
Recent phylogenetic analyses of Saxifragales, based on DNA sequences of five plastid and nuclear ribosomal genes under parsimony and likelihood criteria, failed to resolve the branching order of the major lineages of the clade. This lack of resolution was attributed to the rapid radiation of Saxifragales.

From Fossils to Molecules: Phylogeny and the Core Eudicot Floral Groundplan in Hamamelidoideae (Hamamelidaceae, Saxifragales)

Systematic Botany, 2007
Most floral diversity in the core eudicots is based on a groundplan that includes among its most distinctive elements a bipartite perianth and pentamerous merosity combined with a bicarpellate gynoecium. To obtain insights into the origins of this groundplan, the evolution of its structural components in Hamamelidoideae (Hamamelidaceae, Saxifragales ...

The complete chloroplast genome of Sinowilsonia henryi (Saxifragales: Hamamelidaceae), an endangered relict species

Conservation Genetics Resources, 2018
Sinowilsonia henryi Hemsl. (Hamamelidaceae) is a living fossil and an endangered relict species endemic to China. The complete chloroplast (cp) genome was sequenced and assembled by using Illumina paired-end reads data. The circular chloroplast genome consists of 158,741 bp, including a pair of inverted repeat (IR) regions of 26,233 bp each, a large ...

Characterization of the complete chloroplast genome sequence of Bergenia scopulosa (Saxifragales: Saxifragaceae)

Conservation Genetics Resources, 2017
Bergenia scopulosa (Saxifragaceae) is an endangered perennial herb which is endemic to China. In the present study, the complete chloroplast genome of B. scopulosa was determined by using Illumina pair-end sequencing. The complete chloroplast genome of B. scopulosa was 156,041 bp, consisting of a pair of inverted repeat (IR) regions (25,585 bp each), a

A Review of the Fossil Record of the Genus Itea (Iteaceae, Saxifragales) with Comments on its Historical Biogeography

The Botanical Review, 2013
Itea is a genus of about 20 species of trees and shrubs that are today native to southeastern North America, eastern Asia, and eastern Africa. In this paper, I review the fossil record of Itea, which is based on four types of fossils: diporate, psilate pollen attributed to Itea or the dispersed pollen genus Iteapollis; carpofossils representing fruits ...

Salt variation induces oxidative stress response in aquatic macrophytes: The case of the Eurasian water-milfoil Myriophyllum spicatum L. (Saxifragales: Haloragaceae)

, 2020
Wetlands are very fragile systems and susceptible to being affected by human activity. S'Albufera de Mallorca Natural Park is the main wetland in Mallorca Island (Spain), and undergoes a salinization process derived from the overexploitation of adjacent ...

A preliminary assessment of plant–biotic interactions in the Eocene of South China: Evidence from Liquidambar L. (Saxifragales: Altingiaceae)

Palaeogeography, Palaeoclimatology, Palaeoecology, 2017
Abstract The study of fossil plant–biotic (mainly arthropod) interactions offers an opportunity to understand the evolutionary process in palaeoecosystems and their response to climate fluctuation. Despite the importance of such investigations, not much is known about plant–arthropod associations from the Cenozoic floras of Asia.
