The diversity of the Baikal lineage of Hydra oligactis Pallas, 1766: molecular and morphological evidence [PDF]

open access: yesZooKeys, 2020
In this paper, molecular analyses of Baikal hydras from the ‘oligactis group’, based on COI and ITS1–5.8S–ITS2, and morphological analysis of their holotrichous isorhizas, were performed.

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

ACUTE GRIEF WITH DELIRIUM IN AN ELDERLY: HOLISTIC CARE [PDF]

open access: yesMalaysian Family Physician, 2011
Delirium in the elderly is a challenging and under-recognized problem in the community. Early detection and management improves outcomes and quality of life for the elders with delirium at home.

Structure‐forward targeting of claudins with synthetic binders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Claudins form the paracellular barriers between epithelial and endothelial tissues at tight junctions and are targets for molecular binders with the goal of modulating barrier permeability. Claudin‐binding molecules are relevant in drug delivery or in altering claudin interactions with disease‐causing proteins.

MASQUERADES OF CLUSTER HEADACHE [PDF]

open access: yesMalaysian Family Physician, 2009
Many cluster headache (CH) patients waited several years to be accurately diagnosed because their symptoms are often mistaken for sinusitis or a dental disorder.

Clinically significant prostate cancer (csPCa) detection with various prostate sampling schemes based on different csPCa definitions

open access: yesBMC Urology, 2021
Background Combining targeted biopsy (TB) with systematic biopsy (SB) is currently recommended as the first-line biopsy method by the European Association of Urology (EAU) guidelines in patients diagnosed with prostate cancer (PCa) with an abnormal ...

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Simultaneous Determination of Trace As, Sb, Bi and Hg in Soils by Hydride Generation-Inductively Coupled Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectrometry

open access: yesYankuang ceshi, 2013
A method for the simultaneous determination of the trace contents of As, Sb, Bi and Hg in the same solution by Hydride Generation-Inductively Coupled Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectrometry (HG-ICP-AES) was established by using 10% hydrochloric acid as the ...

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.
