A Facile Route for Rapid Synthesis of Mesoporous SBA-16 Silica

SBA-16-type mesoporous silica materials have been synthesized within 6h under weak acidic media by adding small amount of phosphomolybdic acid and inorganic salts. The reaction products have still maintained a well-ordered body-centered cubic (Im3m) mesostructure even after treated with 100 °C water for 120 h.

Abstract Well ordered mesoporous SBA-16 was successfully synthesized within an one hour by employing microwave-irradiation (MI). Morphologies of these materials prepared by controlling the aging time of silica sol, can be addressed with decaoctahedron and spherical shape.
